i have these and love them. Only difference I can see is the use of Swift springs. They’re also for an ISF...nobody cares about those anymore lol

That's exactly what am comparing, the RR Penske vs. this Figs Penske coilover. Just the difference in spring brand couldn't possibly justify the $1400 premium in price or could they? Just trying to educate myself here. Is there something component-wise about this coilovers that dictate such a huge price difference? The only difference I see is Swift spring and lower body cap or what looks like part of the height adjuster collar. Yes, these are for the ISF but the components would be exactly the same for RCF platform just a question of damper tuning and all set to go.

Interesting observation too, Figs places their helper spring on the bottom of main spring whereas RR places theirs on the top. Any advantage in where you place helper spring or is this just a matter of preference?

Thanks.

rip off and not worth the cost. just my opinion, but how could one justify paying $5000 for aftermarket suspension?

I can only assume the difference in cost is related to how much the vendor pays for the shocks from Penske. I know that the Penske factory is really close to RR Racing, and perhaps they have a really good relationship so Penske cuts them a deal? Also if you were to try to buy the shocks alone, last time I checked it they were about 800 each so 3200+tax for the shocks alone.

He’s asking the difference between Figs and RRracing Penske setups. The Figs version is a grand more.

One’s for a IS F and other is for the RC F, my bet is there’s a difference in the coil over shocks. However, the main reason both are expensive is in the Penske name.

Sorry guys maybe I should have been more clear with my question. I understand Penske shocks command a premium and well deservedly so. I was simply trying to figure out why the particular ones offered by Figs are so much more compared to RR Racings Penske. The price difference didn't seem to add up.

DSully's comment of RR racing having a special buyer-seller relationship with Penske appears to be the main reason why (also confirmed this from a reliable source).

This undoubtedly shines the light on RR Racing's Penske coilovers being a phenomenal bargain.

Thanks.

The big price differences:
-We use all Penske spring perches and top caps.
-We use the oversized lower body cap to allow a larger bearing, which is $250 more per shock.
-We offer the first year inspection and nitrogen recharge included in the package.

There are other factors but I will not go into them.
Thanks Mike

Even though I bought my Penske's from RR, I did ask Mike about them and he offered some tips on how to get even further performance.

Thanks Mike. As far as others calling this a rip-off is unfair. I believe a vendor should make their case and we judge it on its merit.

The RCF performance envelope has so much untapped potential. If a $5000 coilover can unfold most of this potential then it's well worth it. Other performance enthusiasts with some of the well known German marque cars often spend $7500 and over for their double adjustable aftermarket suspension.

IMO suspension is the most critical success factor for the RCF and should be number 1 priority when it comes to performance mods. You can install headers, exhaust, supercharger but without the right suspension setup the car is still a dud. It will not be much fun.
