Default RC-F, questions about suspension and wheels

I have found one to purchase from a dealer. I'm driving 3.5 hours away tomorrow to finalize the deal if the car checks out ok. The car has Vossen VFS-6 20" wheels, I believe 255/35/20 and 285/30/20's if I remember correctly. With RS-R springs, Manager tells me the front tires rub at slow parking lot turns on the inner fender. Is this common with this set?

Here is the car...

Yes it’s common I have a similar front tire size a slightly run in the fender liner.

Too bad you can’t get the OEM RCF wheels...

I would avoid it with RS-R springs. RS-R spring rates are soft on those springs. Swift springs are much better. Probably the shocks already have aged a lot since softer springs make the shocks work harder.

Looks like you don’t have to worry about an exhaust upgrade for now atleast . Already upgraded . Also noticed it has all the packages so it’s a good deal for sure, you can always change the wheels as that rubbing tends to get pretty annoying.
Go for it ✌️

I would find it hard to believe the shocks are bad at 25k miles though.

I said, must be aging faster because soft springs make the shocks work harder. Also, there are implications in handling dynamics. I have personal experience since back 7 years ago, I blew two shocks on soft H-Techs.

Speaking of bad shocks, CorradoMR2 blew both of his front shocks at less than 10,000 miles. He had RS-R super downs. You can find his thread, if you search for it.

Thanks for the input. I will certainly look for that. What shocks did you put back on it?

It was for my daily driver where I ended up blowing 3 of the shocks with Tein H-Tech springs, I put Koni yellow adjustable shocks and megan race springs. I set the stiffness to 100% on front and back. Combo worked well and the suspension feels great even after so may years.

There are many very good coil over options available for the RCF like the Penske from RR racing. Also, swift springs are matched well with stock suspension.

My RCF is bone stock and has 10,000 miles. I will keep the suspension pretty much stock and put bolt-ons like full exhaust, throttle controller etc. Also, switch to much more aggressive tires like the MPS4S. Have to figure out, if tires are going to be first or exhaust next spring.
