Question on this heatshield. So when making the cut in the inner fender is there actually air being sent there from outside? I haven't removed anything to look, IE: wheels, or fender liner, but wouldn't having air go through the fender with no way of coming out be a problem? Or is the air that's going through the fender coming out the back of the vents from the beginning of the front doors (where the F badge is located on the side fenders?).
I found a youtube video of someone who installed this but it looks like they botched the cutting... there's gaps where the engine bay are. See picture below. Compare that to the second picture that was originally posted in this thread
Youtube guy's cut. Looks way off...?
Compared to the below:
This sort of makes sense. But just wondering in terms of cutting the side trim piece (doesn't seem noticeable at all in the second picture), but if I have to do what the first picture looks like, I'd rather not get this piece. Any long term users chime in with how it's held up in the engine bay
Thanks,
-Nigel

I'm installing my heatshield on my 2020 now and it appears that things are in the way with the AVS and also where do I use the long vaccum hose? It says at the top of the air box but when I'm following the hose it goes all the way to the bottom of the air box... I can't reach anything from the top or front.
Another thing I noticed is the supplied hose is significantlly narrower than the OEM vaccum hose...
I'm at the fence if I want to install this or not. Looking at it now it appears it's going to be a slight mess installing it on the 2020 and or isn't going to fit right...

With mine, I ran the new "long" hose all the way down to the airbox port and connect the other side to the solenoid. I do recall it being a bit a pain to get to with fat hands, so just unbolted the airbox to get to the hose, or use some long needle nose pliers. The RR hose is meant to splice into the stock lines, I guess that makes install easier for novice users, but I wanted a clean run.
You then use the longer factory hose to connect to the solenoid that you relocate to the airbox actuator. The really short factory hose gets removed and put in your spare parts box.
Even with AVS, you should still have room on the strut tower to relocate the solenoid and horn.
Here's a very quick and dirty visual I slapped together:

I tossed the supplied hose in the trash. Go to auto parts store and pick up some hose the same size as the stock stuff, I think it's the same size as washer fluid lines, but bring a piece into the store to verify.

Appreciate it. I forgot to update this post when I did the other one. I'm not using the RR racing silicon hose since it's significantly narrower. I'm actually surprised they didn't include the correct size hose. I called Toyota and got 5' of rubber hose coming tomorrow so I can route and use OEM lines and make it nice and tidy. I didn't want to not have enough so I'll have a little surplus.
After I followed the line down I saw where it connects to the intake box. Wasn't bad. At first I just didn't see where it was going.
I already cut and did the side plastic on the passenger side firewall so that's all set. Just have to move everything and bolt it down tomorrow when I get the line.
I wish this would fit better honestly. If I knew what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bought it... That seems to be the going thought on FB.
I'll post a picture hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday :-)
The diagram is great! Thank you! Hopefully this helps others as well.
EDIT: Got the OEM Toyota Hose. Matches 100% with what the RCF has. This is the part number in case anyone wants it. They make longer/shorter as well. I can also post part numbers for that later.
Picture before everything is installed.
Quick mock up, and cutting of the side plastic. Nothing installed 100% yet. *Was waiting on the proper size hose.
OEM Toyota Vacuum hose.
Same diameter unlike the RR racing silicon hose that is supplied which is significantly narrower on the inside.
