I tried plugging a charging cable into a USB port and only get normal charging. I tried a fast charge car charger plugged into the lighter port and still only get normal charging. Are there not enough amps on these ports to support fast charging?

The lighter outlet will supply 5 amps at a nominal 12 VDC easy. That's 60 watts, way more than any mobile device charger needs for 2.4A at 5 VDC (less than 15 watts), so something else is the issue. I doubt the built in charger is high amperage though. That's not common in cars yet.

Car USB supplies 5v/1A total across 2 ports. If you plug two USB devices in they share that 1 amp.
As far as the fast charger goes it's either defective or the cable can't support it.

Pardon my derailment on this subject: Perhaps one of you can shed light on something for me? When I plugged my Note 8 (Android) into either of the USB Charge Ports, I get an error msg stating that the Device is not compatible (or something to that) I realize we are robbed of the opportunity of Android Auto & Apple Play, but why on earth would just trying to use them as a Charger not work on any device plugged into them? Thanks much......
