Aight boys, Christmas shopping.
Alright boys, it is Christmas shopping for me!
please anwser the following question and hopefully mistereun is not going to bust my ads for making a identical thread lol!!
1. rr racing coils road / track [$2000] vs kw3 coilovers [3000+]
I don't track the car but drive aggressively time to time
2. Switch to gloss black Advan GT or Keep my current wheels that I love bc forged rz21 [ super light and high quality].
Love the looks of te37 but I think advan GT looks better. I currently have the rz21 which looks really good and super light.
Should I save my money and keep the wheels or switch over to GT?
3. Toms front lip or lexon front lip
Have a carbon fiber wing and want to balance it out with a carbon fiber front. Which one would you guys choose if you are only buying the front lip?
This is how my car sits now..

He's also got a set of advan GT's for track use.
For front lip, I'd go Tom's.

yea I think he had his penske for sale but wanted to go with something more less aggressive since I don't do much tracking. He seems like he is the real deal to ask and hopefully he sees this thread !

Spam,
Car looks good man, like the wheels a lot, RR Coils personally; MisterEun is detailed and knowledgeable, defer most answers to him or Ming, but agree that pending what you plan in future will help decide on what coils you will get so talk to Ming.
As far as lip, if you only want front lip then Toms of the two choices you mentioned, even though personally I'm trying to get the Lexon rear diffuser (the single piece that goes all the way across) and decide on my front/sides later.

I think it is all about your personal taste.
First on the wheels if you love your wheels then why change them up? I think your car looks good and will look even better lower. It pained over choosing between TE37's and Advan GT's for a while. I have ran TE37's on two other cars and love the simplicity and quality so I stuck with them, but I don't think you could go wrong.
I ended up choosing the Lexon carbon lip. The flares on the side by the wheel well do not come up as high as the Toms and I like that is cleaner, but just my taste. Both are nice. But I felt that the Lexon rear diffuser set too low and I saw a couple people have trouble with tearing them up so I went with the TOMS rear. I say just do what you like and again what fits you.
I am running the Penske V2 coils from RR, but they might be a little on the aggressive side for some customers. The car definitely loses a little comfort, but with the USRS and these coils the car feels like it's on rails and a lot of fun. Plus the adjustability of dampening and ride height is very easy.
Your car looks good so far and I agree with the others. Ming is a great contact and he helped me a lot with wheel offset since I was running a true coil since he had been through it.

If you are willing to spend $3k for KW coilovers you might as well go for the Penske RR Stage 2. As long as you use the lower spring rate, comfort is still pretty darn good on this coilover in my opinion. The only reason to go with RR Road and track version is because of cost.
Having the additional compression adjustment really refines the handling and ride capability of the car. If you are aggressive street driving you will be blown at how good the Penske RR are and they inspire a great deal of confidence as you can throw the car into a corner and no problems at all just a big ol' smile on your face.
I suspect Ming's setup was on the higher spring rate which is great for track but a bit too harsh for street.

thanks for the comment. For now might go with just a front. I want a clean look to the car but maybe I might go with Tom sides as well and then eventually a lexon diffuser!

Hey guys, merry Christmas!
Funny how y’all made me into some coilover expert...
Flattered and thank you but I’m just a regular joe who likes to track a lot.
I’ll give you my feed back on the RRs I had on the car for almost 2 years and prob around 17-18 track days.
First, they are a high quality product but the price reflects that.
They are very tuneable but I suspect most people prob don’t use them to the fullest potential.
Yes I had the stiffer springs and yes you will loose the Lexus ride quality. I’ve never had the lower rate ones so I can’t comment on that.
In my experience, the rears were not as robust as the front ones. I had an issue with one rear shock which leaked oil but penskes made good on warranty. The fronts were perfect in every way.
One big thing I disliked was the clunky noise. RR claims there’s no rubber up at the top mount and that’s why, but my new ohlins don’t have rubber and they make zero noise. Mike Figs told me it’s due to orientation of pillow ball support.
RR road and track ones re-use oem rubber so I’m guessing probably much better as far as noise.
Lastly, the shocks are filled with gas, (most likely nitrogen but I’m not sure) and they will “leak” and depressurization over time. Those need to be checked like annually. I was taught to fill with just atmospheric air using a high pressure bicycle shock pump. Sucky thing is you can’t get to the valve without removing the shock from the lower control arm.
That said, I think if you’re not going to hardcore track, the road and track version would prolly work fine and ride better on the road. May be look into the Ohlins version of road and track and make a comparison?
I’ve had KW years ago on Nissan cars. If you get their higher end versions, it’s a good product. But why not support the shops that specialize in lexus? They support us so we should support them. That’s how I see it.
Good luck.

I think the Advan GT would be a clean look for you. Te37 is my favorite but doing a white RCF with gloss black Advan GT is so clean too.
Toms is lot more aggressive so depends what you want. I like the toms because of how thick it is.

yea I was going to buy your coilovers but did not want a issue with creaks and rattles. Also, your a hardcore track guy so It would not been ideal for me to buy your set haha.
I know you have the toms full out but do you think if I install only the front lip will look wierd? I am planning to drop it maybe around what a swift springs might drop with coilovers so just wondering with a modest drop, would it scrape still or be to low.
thanks!

1. Front and side Tom kit / lexon diffuser
2. Full lexon kit.
3. Front toms lip , side and rear lexon kit.

People always mix and match, its personal preference.
The Toms is just a bigger/thicker looking kit while the Lexon looks thinner so keep that in mind.
Route 1 wouldn't be bad!

Spam,
Remember I was gonna get em rebuilt before you get em? All good since I already sold them anyway. They were fine even though I have put them through some tough days. Even run off track a few times...
Personally, I don’t like cars that only have front lip. It looks unfinished.
Save your money and buy front and sides?
If you go with Toms front, I would stick with Toms sides. Just think it will flow better.
The rear is so far away from the other parts, which ever you prefer would be fine.
Just FYI my rear is Rowen now. Sold the Toms diffuser.
Why don’t you just do a full Lexon kit. That would be fly.
If you don’t dump the car, the front lip will be fine.
Mines been on car 2+ yrs and no scratches visible. There are some scrapes on the bottom.
Keep in mind Lexon rear makes the back end really low. If you go up steeper driveways & such, you may have issues.
