Yes 2015. It's not a button you depress to activate like in some other makes. It's just there. You stop on a hill release the brake and the car will hold. I was surprised the first time I experienced it.

Well thanks...I'll have to give it a try. The feature more specifically I'd like to have would be a on/off button that I could depress to activate it.

Thanks for the info!

My bad, after further investigation, on the RCF it's technically a HILL-HOLD as it holds the car only on a hill or gradient whereas Auto hold brake will prevent forward or backward movement even on a flat which is great when you are in stop and go traffic.

So yeah, keep the Auto-Hold brake on your list.

I learn something new every day Lol.

Nah I caught what you were saying, just that if you drive in Sport S+ 99% of the time, there should either be some learning by the computer or ability to start up in your preferred mode

Also, I would've like to have a manual transmission option. I think it would've been sweet. I know we can't out-shift the 8AT, but it would have been fun

We may not be faster, but I think we might be smarter. Holding gears/revs longer and unsettling the car less with shifts. It generally races to the highest gear possible chasing fuel economy which makes all the modes except for the last feel like shades of the same color. It also does this thing where you ask for a downshift and you get it (think on the highway behind a lagger) the car in front hears you and begins to slowly move over and so you can only give so much gas. Once they move you give it more throttle and what does it do? Shift up to a higher gear..... Yes, manual mode fixes this but... I think a manual could have been interesting, especially in a toyota product. But a stick in a lexus at this point, we can only dream.

I drive a 6 speed manual every day with a 8 lbs flywheel and a heavy duty clutch. Do rev-matching, heel-toe downshifts and the whole nine yards. I don't wish RCF was a manual transmission, as odd as it sounds. I think the 8 speed automated gear box is suited perfectly. Wish it was geared shorter (but, exhaust to a greater degree has now addressed as it revs faster). The reasoning is, simply it takes too much concentration gunning it with ~ 500 HP on the road so keep hands on steering makes it less scary. It is much easier to extract the most out of the V8 with this auto gear box than with the manual.

Anyone else wish that the shift lever direction was wired so that upshift is to the rear and downshift towards the front? As in a true sequential shifter. I did this re-wire on my IS-F and can't seem to find the wires for the RC-F, wires colors are the same IIRC.

I use only paddle shifters to keep hands on the steering so not really an issue for me.

I use the paddle shifter most of the time. But sometimes, I like to use the lever.

The only thing I dislike is the lack of folding mirrors like I had on my GS350 F Sport

lol yea I used that stick last night for the first time because I had been using the paddles but found it hard to shift while turning. Found out that when trying to downshift

yea, coming from my 370z and mostly manual my entire life I miss it but during traffic I don’t. I just think it should’ve been an option, like CTS-V and other high horsepower v8’s

3. The touchpad has latency, the head (screen) unit is slow and too small
4. I wish it had auto hold BRAKE

With all that, I do really enjoy it so I guess it could be worse
Do you think #2 is just due it being a 2015? In the market so was just curious. Ever try to fix it? I know rattles can sometimes be impossible to track down.

Acceleration lag in normal/auto mode. I don't have the car, but when I test drove it, it was almost enough for me to cross it off my list. Loved pretty much everything else about it, but I would be driving it in normal 90% of the time, and that lag would get old quickly. I guess this kind of goes along with the other complaints of the car not starting back in the last setting used, otherwise this would be a moot point given the other setting options that apparently make it more responsive.

i agree with this, my previous cars were manual transmissions, heck i still own a 2015 ford fiesta ST, i love manuals, but man the auto in the RC F is something special when in sport+ , the shifts are very fast and responsive. i dont even care for a manual when im gunning it in the RC F lol.

i use to give this a pass and just told myself to enjoy the car in sport+ , but after driving other lexus cars and seeing just how eager and responsive the transmissions can be in normal mode in their other cars, makes me feel a tad bit envious. i wish we would get an ECU update for the transmission logic, would be nice.
