Default Black moldings

Lexus Service advisor tells me that it must be sent to the glass shop because it is sealed. It’s becoming a hassle. Does anybody know if it is sealed?

This is a rh side upside down

I can confirm the glass is held in place with an adhesive similar to a windshield.

Default Black Moldings Obstacle

I’ve have a new situation. In order to install the new black roof rail moldings, the roof rail weatherstrip must also be removed. Although my 2015 has only 8,500 miles on it and has always been garaged, the weatherstrip is showing a little wear. Do I replace it now since the old one has to be resealed and re-installed since I am paying for the labor or just keep the old weatherstrip? They will set me back another $150.00 per side. I’ll have a good $1,000 plus in this project by the time I’m done.

Your commitment to Genuine Lexus Parts is no venture for the faint of heart...or wallet.

Agree 110% that the window trim for the car should have never come from the factory in chrome. Black chrome like the grill would have been at least a little better, but really satin or gloss black looks best surrounded by all that rubber.

Default Black Moldings

I am really detail oriented when it comes to my RCF. It will look great when finished, just in time for the summer cruising season!

This is a lot more involved than I thought. I thought it was a pain when I changed out the trim on my bmw 335i with there oem black trim. This install is definitely more involved. My mistake on stating it didn't have a sealant. It will look good once all said and done. I would say replace the weatherstripping now if it's already showing wear.

the window will be sealed with window sealer to prevent leaks. I work in a Lexus assembly plant.

Default 2020 RCF Black Moldings Update

My 2015 Molten Pearl RCF goes to the Lexus dealer on April 30th. I’m really looking forward for the new look. I will post photos for all to see.

I’m excited to see how it looks. The dark trim on the F-Sport RC’s. I always thought the RC-F should have came with black or black chrome window trim.

Yes, this will replace the Lexus mistake of putting installing chrome moldings when they should have been black.

Default 2020 RCF Black Moldings Done!

Here’s the first photos of my RCF with the new black moldings installed. They look awesome in person. Total price including installation $1,405.71($130.00 of that sales tax) and included new roof rail weatherstrips I didn’t really need to replace but I did anyway at a cost of $330.00. I know that some of you think that I am completely crazy for this molding swap but now that it’s finished, I’m completely satisfied. Lexus Of Seattle treated my RCF with Extra Special Care thanks to Mark and Paul. Yes these black moldings should have been original equipment on 2015-19 RCF’s but it’s also gratifying that Lexus fixed their mistake(in my opinion).

Thumbs up Sweet !

Looks sharp! Your Dealership must REALLY love you buying all these Lexus Brand pieces!
Others mention the cool looking "Black Chrome" Grill up front - which is a super close match to the Black Chrome Ace Alloy Wheels I have (For Sale) and flows wicked smooth! Were you intending on keeping your wheels stock Grandpa? What else is in the works to add to your Molten beauty?

That looks great, I think it lets the car just show it's own lines instead of that chrome piece trying to.....well....I don't know what it was supposed to do lol. Yes, I hate the cost, but I think it came out great and you know it is done permanently as opposed to wrap or paint or any of that.
