OEM brake pad & rotor price check and alternatives?
Hey all,
First and foremost, I apologize if this question is asked frequently, but I searched through many posts and didn't find an answer to my question.
My RCF is in need of new brakes and brake discs all around. I shopped on lparts247.com (my local dealer, Lexus of Sacramento) and the parts totaled to $1669.03 (open spoiler for parts list and pricing).
$730 for squeaky and extraordinarily dusty pads seems a bit ridiculous to me, ~$200 per rotor isn't too bad but I feel like the prices can be found for a better deal elsewhere.
So my questions are...
1) Is this accurate pricing for OEM pads/rotors, or is Lexus of Sacramento trying to upsell? Are there any alternative websites I should be checking for ordering OEM parts?
2) At the same, or lower, pricing point, what alternative pads should I be considering? Some factors I'd be interested in is higher performance at the same/less price point OR same performance with much less brake dust at the same/less price point.
From the research I've performed, it seems that Project Mu NS pads are what I'm after in regards to less brake dust and slightly better performance for a much lower price ($344 for Mu front pads vs $330 from LoS, $249 for Mu rear pads vs $500). I'd love to hear any input in regards to my 2 questions above.
Thanks in advance!
