Last 6 of VIN, your Build Sequence. What's your Build #?
shame. Since it was the last of the breed, I'm surprised someone didn't salvage rebuild it

Out of curiosity, I went online to see what the VINs were for some of the new 2020 RC-F (non track editions) to get a sense for where we are. I did not look very long, but it appears Lexus is up to somewhere around 7500 RCFs produced worldwide at this point. I saw a VIN with the last six being something like 007440. I also saw a 2019 with a VIN of 007224 which lines up pretty well with the numbers.
So for those of you wondering how rare are cars are, going in to the 6th year of production, it appears only 7500 have been made worldwide.
I'm going to pin this thread, because this question comes up quite a bit.
edit: I totally forgot to put my own up. It's 1744. My car wasn't actually titled until 2016 though. It apparently sat on the dealer's lot (or showroom) for a whole year.

I have yet to fully understand if each model or car built has the VIN that increments by 1

The answer is that it depends on a lot of things, but in general yes, it increments by 1 for every vehicle made within that sequence. That last bit is the important part.
The sequence encompasses the chassis type as well as the plant/line the vehicle was made at.
The chassis type includes the engine, drivetrain layout, and occasionally body/suspension setup, and so on.
For instance, for the Tacoma which has about 20 chassis types and has been made at 3 factories, there are probably 60 trucks that have the same last 6 digits of the VIN.
For vehicles like the IS F, RC F, GS F, LFA, that are only made at one factory and all share the same chassis type, the last 6 digits of the VIN are unique within that model.
Also note that the first production vehicle rarely starts at 000001, so the number sold will rarely match the last VIN, but that is how many they made (including crash test vehicles, pre-poduction, etc.).
In general they will have built at least the number indicated by the sequence number.
