Consensus on aFe filters ?

After some research, it seems it's best to just replace the drop in filter while leaving the stock air box assembly.
While browsing the RR racing website, there are two aFe drop in filters available. Wet and Dry. Which one would be recommended? Any benefit to one or the other besides one not requiring to be oiled? Also, any opinions on the K&N drop in filter compared with the aFe or is it not even worth mentioning ?
I have copied the two links from the RR racing website on the two filters. Thanks

I run an AFE dry in mine. I did this because I like the non-oiled filter as I feel it is better for the intake sensors.

I am running a dry filter too, no messing with oil.

Oiled filters allow "more" airflow through the filter and are reusable after washing and oiling. Dry filters aren't typically reusable while maintaining peak efficiency. Can you wash them? yes, but do they perform the same as new? no Honestly though, you aren't going to get much of a performance gain from either, it's more of a sound and gas mileage improvement over all else. K&N filters are competitive with most if not all other brands of the same class

There is no doubt in my Military Mind that "Oiled" Filters are a thing of the past, and these Dry Performance types are a great upgrade from stock. I however chose to drop the Apexi Filterinto my F and I absolutely must share this with you!
When I installed this Apexi Filter, I also mounted up the LEMS Titanium Intake and am not naïve enough to claim it added any Hp or Tq to the car. HOWEVER - I will say that whenever I let off the gas in 5th, 4th, or 3rd it produces the most awesome Engine Braking feel and sound that even enables me to even refrain from using the brakes to slow down. If you have ever ridden a Ducati (or VTwin) you know exactly what I mean by literally "Feeling" this Engine Braking. Not sure if it has anything to do with the Filter, Intake or Both, but it's definitely an addictive feel that I'm sure some of you experience as well.
Gunny out........

To be honest, I feel this is all a placebo. ECU will adapt to more air flow to even out performance. Even though it may feel faster right away, by the time it adapts you would have already been adapted to the gradual regression too.
No one really speaks on it. I do think it is a marketing thing. I bought an oiled filter just for the sake of cleaning and saving money for the life of the car. That is tangible evidence long term.

So by adding a replacement drop in filter does it increase the intake noise at all. IE: Tom's foam filter or the AFE dry filter? (Not an aftermarket intake. Just the filter element)
Not
I've always run OEM paper filters becase I feel they do a better job at filtering than aftermarket stuff...
Thanks,
-Nigel

Appreciate it! Yea have no plans on removing the stock air box. As much as I'd like more intake noise I don't want to sacrafice low down torque or performance which you'd definitely lose since we are in essance removnig the secondary air intake that opens up at specific rpm..etc. But dang do I love that sound when it opens and you hear all that induction noice!
I just figured I'd ask about the AFE drop in filter but at the same time if it made slightly more noise that's cool. But I still firmly believe the stock filter probably filters out much better than any drop in replacement or oil filter plus nothing is getting messed up with the MAF by oils or anything.
