Default 2015 RC F Battery Replacement - Suggestions

Hi All!

I've experienced a failed startup this morning with some error prompts that followed:

"BSM not available"
"Operation of Electrical Items Restricted"
"TVD System Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer"

I'd like to assume these messages are relative to the battery needing to be replaced(I've experienced slow starts a few times in the past few months). My 2015 RC F is daily driven. What are some recommendations you may have for replacement?

Interesting. Why would those prompts be related to battery? I had my battery go dead, and since then as I don't drive my RCF much any more, it sits on a trickle battery tender.

I have always used Optima batteries in my cars when the need to replace arose.

Did you check your battery terminals? I heard corrosive connections can cause errors. I just noticed mine had some corrosion. I just purchased some battery terminal cleaner.

I had this happen last year. Shopped around for aftermarket battery (in Canada) and no one made it. They all directed me back to the dealer. Apparently there are some you can get that "kind of" fit and you can make work, but none that are the same as OEM. I thought I would have to bite the bullet and pay the dealership for one (I think they quoted me around $400 for parts only) but then remembered that I had 3 months left on my new car warranty and they replaced it for me free of charge.

If someone has tracked down an aftermarket in Canada that fits the battery tray and clamp, with the terminals on the correct side (it's a reverse of the reverse, so standard, but apparently not standard) I'd be eager to see for the next time I have to change it.

I will check with a battery tester on the health of it once I get the chance. I am assuming it is the battery due to the the poor starts in the past months and the windows are fighting to rolling up/down.

This is what I posted on the thread in the link above. I'm happy with this, I think these are better quality batteries than OEM panasonic and extra CCA is always a plus.

Just in case anyone is interested, I ended up replacing the OEM Panasonic battery with a Duralast group 34 AGM battery . Dimensions are close but not perfect fit. I was able to reuse everything in the current battery box, including the bracket with the cable hold-downs. 740 CCA vs. 595 for the OEM. Weight is similar. About $215. Prices I found for the OEM battery were all north of $350.

Also need to replace my 2015 RCF battery. Can't find a direct replacement From what I have read on this forum, I believe best way to go is to have my dealership replace it. Oh, I hate to go back to those incompetent fools... but rather not gamble on an alternate size, and go with oem.
