What Did You Do To Your F Today?
#586
That doesn't prove theres no loss dude. You think a draggy would pick up a 2-5 hp loss? There are so many variables. Im saying the aftermarket intakes are for aesthetics and/or noise. At best you wont lose hp, at worst you'll loose a little. Raffi from RR has confirmed that there is no gain from going to an aftermarket intake
Case in point, there is nothing in the design of Takeda that suggests there should be a loss in power. I can understand the skepticism around gain (I personally believe there was some minor gain, but that is my own opinion and the sound in the midrange alone makes it worth it), but there is no argument rationally for any power loss.

The ones that cause loss in power, are the ones that either are open allowing hot air from the engine bay and/or don't have the two-stage intake below 3600 rpm and above. Actually, I experienced that specific power loss from modification to intake and I know exactly how it feels like. That was when I disconnected the vacuum tube with the stock intake and the car had a very nice growl up to 3600 rpm, but almost felt like no torque below 3600 rpm feeling completely gutless and then suddenly a surge after 3600 rpm. I disliked it so much that I reconnected the OEM intake back. Once I got the Takeda, it maintained everything the stock intake design had except it allowed for more airflow above 3600 rpm. It felt completely different when I got it and it was my second bolt-on that was not masked by the RR racing ECU tune.

Picked this up today from Canadian Tire. As spring and summer is approaching, I am going to detail my cars especially the RCF and the IS350 F-Sport myself this spring and summer. Maybe, the RX450h as well, if I have the time/motivation for it.
Also, I have my appointment scheduled to get the RR Racing USRS Lower Control Arm Bushings on May 13th. The RR Racing Harmonic Damper Pulley installation will follow in the summer.

Super cheap mod to do:
OEM Toyota reflectors. $1.63
Part number: 81580-V1040
Replaces black plastic blank plug in door with oem Toyota reflector. 6 seconds to change. Fits my RCF, CT200h, wife's NX no problem.

Looks great! Is it 4 in a pack or one per part number? I’m about to order some

Worked with Raceseng to create a RCF specific tow hook for track use. The one they had listed previously was designed around the ISF hook and was pretty long when used on the RCF. After taking a bunch of measurements and test fitting 3D printed mockups, they've finally released a shaft for the RCF.
I ordered a spare tow hook cover for the grill and cut out an opening for a cleaner installed look.
Shaft part number is 231612.
