I made a post just a couple days about about possibly getting a RCF.
Well today I went to the dealer to just look at them and test drive one. He brought out a 2019 black with red interior. The red interior wasn't nearly as bad in person as I thought it would be in pictures from seeing it. I don't want a black car.
My plan was to get the flare yellow one that I posted but it was in IL... and even then what if I didn't like it, I've wasted a trip back and forth and it's not close...etc.
Ended up picking up a white 2020. It literally has everything I originally wanted when I first built it a little while back.
Black/White interior
Moon roof
triple beam headlights
mark levinson sound/navigation
premium package
parking assist
illuminated door sills other options...etc.
Everything minus the carbon package and TVD. I guess for what I am going to use the car for which is not track or things like that, this was probably the best choice.
When I test drove the black one I liked it. Very comfortable. I didn't find it to be slow. When you put it in Sport S+ the engine sounded way different and louder and it gets to speed fast. When I took home the white one, I was at 100mph in no time and it didn't even feel like I was going fast. I was like SLOW down dude.
Typical lexus quality inside. My wife actually likes the silver trimmed carbon interior over the actual carbon fiber. She said it breaks up the darkness plus looks nicer with the white interior.
So I guess I'm part of the club now :-) Don't mind the one picture. I look homeless and wasn't planning on doing anything today so I really do look like a bum...ahahah.
I'm slightly sad at the same time because now I know I will be selling my STi. STi is fun, and I have a lot of unique stuff on it, but in general terms of quality it doesn't hold a candle to the RCF...
I think I'll feel better tomorrow after the whole shock of buying a car and being at the dealer for 4-5 hours wears off..
On a plus note the dealer had the limited edition in the garage. They showed it to me and it was super nice,. The matte paint job is so pretty. The rear wing and cf hood though I can't get on board with. Just looks like a boy racer type of thing. The two piece rotors/ccb looked awesome. The all red interior was way too much for me. I love the red/black carbon fiber trim, that looks so nice. Titanium exhaust was beautiful! But I would grow tired of the interior rather fast.

Cool stuff! Congratulations. Welcome to the F club. Great choice.

Congrats. Love black window trims. Should consider powercoating rims to match those. What was the price difference between 2019 you saw and 2020? Was 2019 still a brand new car?

I actually love how the wheels look. I was looking at a Flare yellow one in IL that had the carbon package but had the base wheels. Every RCF that I built online I choose the polished wheels. Something about them look so nice to me. I can't stand black wheels...lol. One of the reasons I actually don't like the Fuji edition. The 2019 was "used" but only had 2,300 miles on it. Price on that one was 66,500. With the 2020, they had a sticker price of about 80,500. They took of $6k and then I got the 6k in Lexus rebates, so I got the car for 68k before tags and taxes. I tried to get the 0%apr with the rebate but they wouldn't budge on it.. Tried for like an hour. In the end I guess I got a decent deal. I don't know, this is a jump to me from the 30k I spent so many years ago for my STi. But other than a possible TVD option, this is pretty much exactly how I built the car online. Even down to the white/black interior, moon roof, sound system, illuminated door sills..etc. I would have loved to get the CF package but in all reality I think I would have wanted to only get the CF roof. I like the color match front lip and the rear matched spoiler. Both of which when they are CF look like an after thought or add on. This definitely flows better in my eyes, just a clean look.

Congrats man, that’s awesome. Not to mention, super sexy in white. You’ll have no regerts with this car either!

It is still breaking in so you might want to follow break-in procedures. Also, Lexus cars seem to open up a lot more at higher mileage especially once you go past 10,000 miles. There is actual data that shows it.
Use sport+/manual mode as those are the best modes. Since your RCF has AVS, it will be the stiffest in sport+ mode and it gets softer as you go down the modes.

Congratulations Nigel. It won’t take long before that Sti is but a distant memory. These F cars darn near have a soul. Enjoy the ride it will be a long and pleasant one.
Cheers from the frozen North where we get to enjoy ours for 5-6 months max.
