Default What's this about: OBDII Jumper??

Hey all,
This, see pic, fell down from behind the kick panel the other day while I was driving. Looks like someone pulled the OBDII plug out of the kick panel, put a jumper connector onto it and then tucked it back up there. I asked my sales guy what it is. He ran it by the service dept and they said it was a vehicle tracking device. Anyone else got one of these? Any harm in removing it? I don't subscribe to any of the monthly plans with Lexus so I don't see why I'd need it. Just wondering what the other smaller connector goes to...?

I would trace the power connectors and see where it goes and maybe get a mechanic to remove it

Sounds like you're not the first owner?

Is your car leased?

some dealers install these tracking devices on leased cars in case the leaser decides to stop paying to make recovery easier.

if you own the car I say remove it.
