Default Adding Lane Keep Assist to 17' RC-F for self driving

I am on a mission to see if it's possible to add Lane keep Assist to my 17' RC-F so I can make it self driving. In the part catalog it says the Lane Keep Assist camera fits this model and I would have to add the on off button near the footwell. I am doubtful this is all I have to do is plug it in. Does anyone know what other parts or problems I may run into? Thanks

If you're looking for anything near self driving - for the RC-F - LKA isn't it

I tried increasing the sensitivity and what not and couldn't get it to be as good as the newer RXs (I have a 2020 RCF, test drove a 2021 RX)

And it's still a far cry from the Tesla stuff

Just my 2 cents

You both might check out comma ai. They make a plug and play system that works on most all Lexus models that takes over the lane keep assist and radar modules and presto you have a self driving highway cruiser.

Will you be submitting a PR back to the github maintainer? I look forward to seeing your work, I'm interested if you need someone to help test

Did you make any progress on this? If so, which harness did you use?

Am just in the final stages... Should potentially be finished in the next couple days. Here's what I've purchased so far 20' EPS computer, 20' roof wiring harness, 20 steering pad switch assembly, a few wires that go in the steering wheel assembly and the lane keep camera along with it's accessories. However when I installed the roof harness on my 17 the dome light and microphone didn't work. So now I have on order the 17 harness with lane keep camera.

What I'm not sure of is what parts are the bare bones to make this work. My parts combo will allow me to have all stock Lane keep features and the self driving. That being said one might be able to get by with a few things #1 the EPS computer from 18-20'. Reason being is it is able to accept lane keep assist messages. You might also explore reflashing your current EPS ECU with newer firmware. I got down that road but hit a snag with techstream and not having a mongoose cable.

Other required parts may include the steering pad switch depending upon how messages are allowed to inject into the can bus network. That being said I suspect you might be able to run the self driving system off of only the OBD2 port. So in that case you would just need the Comma Two a CPV2 and Ethernet cable from them and an EPS computer. Will let you know on this as I get farther along...

This system was rated #1 on consumer reports for self driving tech. Even above Tesla

Unsure... I lean towards yes because most of the parts are identical to all other rc f model years. On the other hand the Frankenstein parts could send me out to no man's land running a slightly custom fork... No big deal

Which car harness are you using? A custom one? I was going to guess the Lexus RX 2020 would have worked

Hopefully you can make some solid progress!

By CPv2, that's the comma panda version 2 right?

They use such interesting jargon it takes a bit to wrap my head around it

If you're referring to car harness for the comma 2 all Lexus Toyota Use the same one it's in the shop

Cpv2 is comma power version 2

I found out that the network gateway blocks can signals that would have allow you just to have it connected solely to OBD2 so it needs to have both obd2 and roof wiring harness connected

So when you buy purchase the comma 2 with a Toyota harness and they throw in the cpv2 free

my 21 has lane departure alert with steering assist. i didn't play with steering assist but i turned off the departure alert. it kept falsing during turns in the canyons at speed even when i wasn't departing lanes. lol. and im also in the camp of wanting to drive the car so no assist needed. it's not my daily; only take it out when i want to run it hard.

Following this post! I have a 2017 RC350, not F and was wondering if anyone knows if I can also buy the parts and retrofit it?

I'm having some issues adding it. I put in the 20' power steering control module and it works. I messed up and might have fried part of the circuit which is causing me problems that others wouldn't have. Right now my Comma 2 isn't reading any firmware on the canbus which is not good. Unsure what the plan of attack is right now will report back when I make meaningful progress.
