Default List and rate your own modifications

I just thought of the idea to make this thread as I was reviewing my mods over the holidays.

You can list out your mods and describe a brief sentence with a score out of 10 for it. If you don't like the mod then describe the drawback.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S XL - 9/10 - Very impressive as replacement for OEM PSS. The XL sidewalls really make the car feel planted and roll-resistant as the inner/outer walls resist deformation. Just got them 6 months ago so still have to see how they hold up at higher mileage. Only complaint, they are pricey relative to the competition as they cost $2000 CAD all in installed. I docked one point for it. I guess, gotta pay to play.

Eibach 20 mm Spacers - 8.5/10 - Love the look and also handling with spacers. Really like the planted feel in turns. No complaints. Only downside, the spacer bolts got a little warped while I was torquing them..

Invidia full cat back exhaust with titanium tips - 10/10 - This exhaust exceeded my expectations. Very melodious, smooth and pleasant noise. The increase in HP/torque is very noticeable at all rpms especially as the exhaust breaks in. When I got the exhaust, I was planning on taking off the resonator to get more volume, but so far I have not had the urge to as it is tuned so well.

AFE Power Stage 2 Cold air intake - 9/10 - Just drove it a few times with this cold air intake, but very happy and no complaints. The intake growl/snarl is more pronounced. I definitely feel better throttle response, a bit more punchier midrange torque especially when rpms fall back after shifts I now feel a surge in torque after shifting near redline. Priced decently. Simple install. Docked point for airbox not being CF.

AFE Power Sprint Booster v3 ETC - TBD - On order and will install it shortly. Will be able to properly drive it in March to review it.

So no one wants to share/rate their own mods?

I’d share my Invidia exhaust review but waiting on it to get here I’ve put ceramic tint on my car but that’s it, nothing super exciting. I will more than likely mount up a set of Michelin 4S tires this coming spring so appreciate your review of them.

Cool. I would be interested in seeing how you like the Invidia and PS4S.

I’ll report back. Anxious to get the exhaust on. Car is too quiet right now 😉

Default Mods

Takeda intake - 9/10
- I like the extra intake noise and how it looks in the engine bay.

ARH cat back exhaust - 10/10
- sounds awesome. Not choppy like a Mustang. More like an exotic V8. I personally like the round tail pipes. Was never a big fan of the ovals.

Sprint Booster - 10/10
- gives the car extra pep. Eliminates any lag. Love it.

F spacers for Spoiler
- grabbed 1” spacers for my spoiler. Love them.
grabbed them off of eBay. Have F logo on the sides. Subtle but I really like the look.

I bought a front camera - will install in the spring.

Thanks for sharing. Great to hear feedback on your mods. Do share more as you put more stuff ont. Sounds very promising as you rated SpriintBooster v3 10/10. Hopefully, I will also have the same level of enthusiasm for it.

Speaking of that, look at what arrived today. Will now need to find time to install it. Initial impressions of just within the garage will follow, but will have to patiently wait till March to properly test it out on the road.

I drove my RCF for the first time in 4 months. I got to try out the mods I did over the winter. Here are the updated last two that I did not write about before:

AFE Power Sprint Booster v3 ETC - 9.5/10 - Savage response. Just totally unexpected. Race mode from 1 - 9 is basically way too sensitive. My head was bobbling like crazy with the smallest inputs off/on. I will try it again when there is more grip on the road in hot weather. Your head is snapping forward and back with small on/off movements. I have put light flywheel in my car before and this has the same effect as a lightweight flywheel. The car revs up and down very quickly. The car virtually seems way lighter. The car engine brakes hard when you lift off. The way my car is setup with the back of the seat upright, high lumbar support, little dive/pitch (stiff tires and 39 PSI front and 41 PSI rear) so all sudden bolt forward and sudden engine brake strain your neck with the whiplash effect. Even sport mode 9 was way too much. I was dialing it down to sport mode 3 and still it had insane response. Off the line things are the most dramatic. You move your foot 20% down the throttle and the car shoots forward like a bullet. It is not the same effect as pressing down the throttle harder/further. Your limbs, high-twitch muscles are simply not fast enough to match what this little thing does. It is almost telepathic in how it is responding to the intentions in your brain. The whole cycle of action/reaction is way shorter. In other words, the cycle from the time you make a slight change to the throttle input to the time the car's wheels are fully delivering the reaction is way shorter. Everything seems like things are reacting way faster. Also, you don't need to downshift as much. I was coasting in 3rd gear at 50 KM/H and I pushed the throttle down a bit and got more than I asked for. Before, I would expect 2nd gear at 50 KM/H to have a similar effect.

p.s. When you are coasting in parking lots, the car is still very easy to drive around and there is no risk of hitting something as long as one does not suddenly stab the throttle down more than a couple of millimeter.

Antigravity Lithium Ion AG-H6-RS 30 Ah battery (12.8 lbs) - 10/10 - I took the longest time to decide on this. The OEM battery costs less than half installed than this battery alone factoring in the import costs as well. However, it has the battery management system in it. It has restart technology with two key fobs. It is super lightweight. I opted for the 30 Ah (stock is 74 Ah), but I felt it would be sufficient based on the fact that I don't use accessories when I drive so there is not much draw. The weight savings were quite nice. About 27.2 lbs compared to the OEM Panasonic battery I took out. All of that from the front. Car did not feel different any different while driving since 30 lbs would not be noticeable. However, it is great to have lighter weight. Battery should last 10 years, Installation was very simple and also the crank is very powerful. It spins so freely and easily on cold cranks that it starts up very quickly. All in all, very happy with this purchase. Very pricey, but it is totally worth it.

Next mods: will be carbon fiber mirrors and the Figs solid lower control arm bushings.

forgot about this thread.

My KWs have arrived. Just waiting for my installer to receive a set of scales so we can corner balance the car.

I’ve also received my new brake pads. I ordered Endless MX72+ pads. Just waiting on titanium shims to arrive and Brembo rotors before installing.

And the last mod for this year will be a set of RE71R tires if they still have stock as they have just been discontinued.

I will rate the mods after they are done and after my first track day later this year.

I will play. I try to keep my car mostly stock, so not a lot to add.

Tanabe Medallion touring Axle back exhaust. I would say this is a 10 out of 10 for me. Perfect sound on hard throttle. But tame on highway driving so you get very little to no drone. Plus no check engine light issues. Very pleased over all.

2 piece R&R rotors front and rear. This saves some serious unsprung weight. Plus the rotors look better. I would also give this a high rating. Like a 10 out of 10.

Next an R&R racing heat shield for Air box. This looks great, does it do anything? Hard to tell. I would say a solid 8 out of 10. It looks great and cant hurt.

I put a Optima Red Top battery in. Little bit lighter and no worries about leaking acid. I would say this is a 5 out of 10 because pretty boring...lol.

I also have run a couple of sets of different tires. The PS4S in XL and the Continental Extreme contact sport XL's. Both of these tires were an improvement over stock.

I'll chime in....been busy with Work. Here goes:

* AEM CAI: 10-10 - Love the look of the intake as it removes all factory components of original airbox. CF lid is truly appealing as well under the hood.

* RR-Racing Front Upper Strut Brace: 10/10 - total improvement in terms of bracing vs the OEM flimsy one. Purchased in the blue to match the OEM engine section.

* RR-Racing 2-piece rotors (Front & Rear) with Endless Pads: 10-10 - The weight savings alone were great, the look of the 2-piece rotor & hats just sets it off! Braking is phenomenal as well, with little dust.

* RR-Racing USRS: 10-10 - What a difference the Poly bushings make in terms of responsiveness and handling.

* Elvin Wong CF Steering Wheel: 10-10 - CF, flat bottom, Rose Red (closets match to OEM interior) with Blue stitch to match other OEM stitching. Nuff said lol.

* Elvin Wong CF Hood Vent: 10-10 - Love the subtle touch of CF against the Ultra white hood.

* Elvin Wong leather cluster cover: 10-10 - Again, in Rose Red to match the OEM red interior, replaced the OEM alcantara cover.

* Wedsport RN-O5M 19" wheels: 10-10 - More aggressive fitment then OEM 19's plus the look = SCHMEXY

* Michelin PS4S XL (275/35 & 305 30): 10-10 - As Rolla states, exceptional tires...PERIOD.

* ARK catback w/ burnt titanium tips: 10-10 - Love the look of the exhaust from the rear with the Helmholtz showing. There sound is amazing with the Growl of an exotic Luxury coupe at WOT, mixed with the subtle rumble at idle & low speeds.

* JL Audio 13.5" slimline sub, custom enclosure and AudioControl 800W amp: 10-10 - Just what the Doctor ordered to ad some nice subtle low end to our Stock System.

* ESCORT Max360C & M1 dash cam, hardwired w/ Blendmount: 10-10 - The Max360C has saved me numerous times from the PoPo. The ability to have it update itself via WiFi is great, the range is wonderful & the dash cam is simple, but since my RC-F is only driven on joy rides once a week or so, its the perfect cam for me!

Future goodies: RR-Racing Coilovers / Toe Rods & camber arms / PPE Equal Length Headers / 2020 side mirrors / RR-Racing Tune
