Hi everyone!
I am currently a salesman at a local Lexus dealer and would love to get some input on the new 2021 Lexus RC-F Fuji Speedway edition. Since the car was released, I have only see one on social media and, of course, none on the street. What is everyone's input on the car?
When I bought my 2020, they had one inside their garage. Priced at $105k or $108k, I can't remember..
Things I loved:
*Factory white matte paint job.
*two piece carbon ceramic brakes
*titanium exhaust
*Carbon fiber roof
Things I really disliked:
*The interior. It's way too much red, red seats, carpet...etc. It's just all very overwhelming. It turns what was a nice interior into something really gawdy to me.
*Black wheels. I get it this is a personal thing. But I'm tired of seeing black wheels on cars, especially how the hand polished spoked wheels are so nice looking..
*The boy racer look. If you don't know what you are looking at it just looks like someone added a cf hood and cf rear spoiler to a Lexus. My wife brought this up when we were looking at it. I agree with her. The MAJORITY of people will have NO clue that this Lexus came from the factory looking like how it does.
*You loose some of the features's/add ons like park assist..etc.
*Same engine= same power
I feel like the car would have looked so much nicer with a matching body colored hood. The roof looked awesome in CF, the rear spoiler to me looked like an add on. For the price of what it is, I'm looking at a Porsche or at least putting the $105k towards a Porsche... Not dissing Lexus at all. I love my 2020 RCF. I love how it looks and eventually when I drive it again I'll love that too, but for the money to me there are way better things to spend it on, like a GT4, that would dance around the RCF on the track.
many diff opinions about the t.e. and fuji - quite a bit of it being hate...lol. mechanically, the fuji is the same as t.e. 60 units offered, owner gets a limited watch and car officially tagged as fuji namesake.
i made the move from my modded 17 to a fuji and haven't looked back. absolutely happy with my choice. if you love world class carbon fiber and willing to pay for it, can't get any better quality for your rc f than factory imo, not to mention warranty coverage. from a performance standpoint, i definitely feel the ~176lbs lighter, shorter gears, stiffer/rebound avs and carbon ceramic brakes. the titanium muffler sound is tuned differently also and im really liking it compared to non edition models. i like that it's lighter without having to gut it myself. let the lexus engineers decide the best places to save weight and maintain the factory look. i'll say tho that i only buy lexus, toyota and yamaha...was holding out for the lc f as the only other car i'd spend on instead of the rc f. we all know what happened with that dream.
in terms of ownership, only know of two - sf bay area (me) and one in florida. would love to know if there are others. there's another for sale in the sf bay area at fremont lexus so that would be two in my area. the new arctic blast satin really is a beautiful color imo. need to see it in person under natural lighting for full potential.
I personally really like what Lexus did with the TE. Shaving 176 lbs off without taking out the back seat or taking out amenities is very difficult, but Lexus did exactly that. It is very rare. Even my RCF carbon/TVD is extremely rare. The TE is far more rare so it will be a unicorn especially over the long term and regarded well over the long term. I don't know how many owners would have opted for it, but it should have come standard with Cup 2 slick racing wider tires than standard RCF. I think a louder and more open exhaust (with corresponding increased power) would have been another logical thing, but it might have been because of emissions restriction on N/A engines.
Another note when buying my 20 TE 07/2019 dealers that had cars allocated would take a deposit, agree on price and when car arrived add 20-50k markup.
I had a good relationship with my local dealer/GSM and when originally reaching out to them they were not sure if they were getting a allocation so he advised I reach out to large dealers assuming they would get one in states like Cali/AZ.
After the out of state game failed I called him again and he made a few calls and said I can get one here from Cali in 2-3 days and will cover enclosed transportation @ MSRP. A nice surprise when doing paperwork was a Lexus -$2500 rebate which covered Stek Clear bra!
I love everything about it but the wing - it's too garish. That, and it needed a horsepower bump over the standard model. My 2015 with full bolt-ons would easily walk the Fuji edition. As Nigel821 said, at six figures, I'm looking at the new 992.
