I get it's kind of gimmicky but it seems weird that a normal RC or IS has the gauge cluster that slides back and forth and a RCF that is much more expensive doesn't have that.

This was the guage cluster of choice for the RC F during the debut. It looks cool, but usability sucks. The fonts are hard to read and the analog speedo is useless. I'd rather have the TFT LCD display of the F SPORT models which came from LFA.

Just a minor correction, according to Lexus, the engine is the same, transmission is not. I remember on one of the thread where RR Racing claimed the difference was in the number of clutch packs. AA80E (on the RCF/GSF) has more clutch packs to handle more power/torque, vs. the AA81E on the regular IS 350.

Wow! Thanks for posting. That is interesting. Looks like another place where they probably cut costs.

The press release doesn't seem to be correct and i'm waiting for clarification from my direct contacts at Lexus USA and PR. I'm pretty certain it's AA80E used in the UR V8 applications w/lock up torque converter. AA81E was made for the 2GR V6 applications.

A back 3/4 side comparison. The fenders flare out a lot more in the RCF hiding the wider axle (and wider wheels). However, that is not a bad thing. Same engine means, the IS500 F-Sport will be very oversteer happy

The rear quarters of the updated IS is very curvy, almost LC like. The only reason why the RC F rear looks wider is the rear passenger cabin is very raked toward the trunk.

I don't like the bottom seat. Those stitches running across the legs and butts get uncomfortable after seating on a long trip like in my IS350. You'll feel like you're sitting on a wire. But that's not the reason I would not trade my RCF for this IS500. I'm sure it's a very nice car to drive and I don't go to the track anyway. The problem for me is the looks. This new gen looks so similar to the last one and you know there are tons of the IS250, 300, 350 already on the road. It would not stand out like the RCF, which look is forever cool.

You're comaring your 2010 IS 350 seats to a 2014+ IS F SPORT seat? They're nothing alike.

No.

Had new IS for a day while the RCF was serviced.

Don’t like the interior. Cheap piano black plastic. Touch screen in awkward place. Too high and distant which makes accurate touches difficult. Car has alot of road noise.

Would miss the great seats, brakes, nicer interior finishes and solid platform of the RC.

Recently RCF was upgraded with electronic hand-brake. Just needs the 360 camera to complete the package.

That is quite interesting feedback. Have not driven an updated 3IS. Just the previous IS350 F-Sport (and RC350 F-Sport), but that was well before I purchased my RCF. Thanks for sharing.

No I won't trade my RCF for the IS500 but I'm considering trading my GS350 F-Sport Black Line Edition for it... decisions, decisions 😬

Agreed. RCF and IS500 F-Sport would make a great pair. If I could replace my family RX450h with a sedan, I would definitely be very compelled to do the same.
