Would you trade your RCF for the IS500 F-Sport?
This is what I was hoping for when I purchased my RCF in 2017. A 4 door sedan with that exact same engine as the RCF. Lexus chose to bring out GSF instead and I decided to buy the RCF because I wanted the smaller size.
Having said that, the IS500 F-Sport does not have the track oriented hardware (chassis/suspension and brakes etc.) that the RCF has so RCF is still positioned higher in the product line up/pricing strategy, but would you trade in your RCF for the IS500 F-Sport to gain the two extra doors and something newer?
Having two little kids, I originally wanted a 4 door sedan and seems to be perfect practicality wise, but I have been extremely happy with my RCF so my answer is no. My RCF is here to stay and not going anywhere.

Love that Lexus has not abandoned sportiness and is pumping their F-Sport line up. That only means great things for the real F brand cars for the future.
As far as trading up...would an E92 M3 owner trade up for an F80 340i M Sport?.....some will. It’s the way of things.
Personally I’ll stick with the F family. No eyebrows raised here unless we get a new ISF...

Does this also mean an RC500 is also on the horizon? I wonder if 4.0L tt is the next frontier for the F cars.

Why would they not call it ISF? Also, pricing wise, I have read it will be cheaper than the RCF (but, not by a lot). Maybe, it is all older gen technology and the other brands like M3/M4 are all-new coming so Lexus did not want it to compete with the M3.

Hmmmm.....no slotted brembos, no side fender brake vent, no TVD, no carbon fiber shenanigans...
Does it have an oil and tranny cooler (maybe not as the two ducts upfront look fake?)?
Is it the same Aisin transmission programmed similar to the F cars?...does it have the same steering ecu?
Weight?....should be below 3,900?
Stock brake pads...high temp?
Tire widths? 255/275?
Lots of questions still...but excited Lexus hasn’t given up on the V8...or performance

I found out the wheels are made by Enkei. Not BBS like for the RCF (forged). That is how Lexus is reducing cost.
Weight wise, it will be similar to RCF. Around 3900 lbs. The IS350 F-Sport already is 3800+ lbs so this one might be just around 3900 lbs. Their advertised 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds compared to 4.1 seconds for the RCF, but that might just be marketing to keep RCF's premium place. In a straight line, I am sure it will be just as quick as our RCF.

New F lineup.
Info from Lexus stating by the end of the year 3 new models will be here.
Is f, Ls f, Lc f. The Is f will have the 2ur-472 hp and the Ls-F and Lc-F , are you ready?
4L Twin turbo v8. 660 hp and 479 tq.$140k-200k. 0-60 3-3.2 Sec. Of course this is always subject to change.

I think that is a good send off to this engine. ISF would also be welcome news.

Lexus explains why it is called F-Sport and not an F.

The fact that they're actually producing the IS500 is a surprise to me. There are always rumors, but many of them don't pan out. Like Rolla, I would have bought an ISF on the 3IS platform had Lexus chosen to make that vehicle, but they went with the GSF instead. I think I always liked my original ISF more than I've ever liked the RCF, though I'm definitely a Lexus/Toyota fanboy. This IS500 to be more along the lines of what I wanted, minus the "track" stuff which is cool to have and brag about at the cars and coffee meets, but honestly nothing that I was ever planning on using.
That all said, I'm very intrigued and will definitely go to the dealership to have a close look and test drive when this car actually comes out.
