Default Holy (low) mileage!

I do not work for Carmax or any dealership but I know we all follow prices from time to time and saw a 2k mile(!) 2017 pop up on CarMax today.
With a price tag to match! Thought we'd all get a kick out this mileage.

Used 2017 Lexus RC F in Ft. Myers, Florida | CarMax

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it would be a very high mileage one. Looks like it is the opposite. 2000 miles for a 2017. Pretty much brand new.

I believe it... Depends on how many vehicles the dude had. Hell my 2020 bough back in November has 120 miles on it currently... By this rate I'll have 1000 miles in a few years..lol. I had a 2006 Daytona 675 that had less than 1000 miles on it during my 12 year ownership. My 08' Daytona has around 2,500 miles.. Life happens and or gets in the way of things it seems at times. That price doesn't actually seem bad to me at all considering the milage.

Heck there is someone on FB that is selling their RCF with 40k+ miles and mods for around $80k I believe.... everyone is just laughing at it but it is what it is.

Yep, just add up the cost of all the mods and there's the asking price....

Yep. But in reality mods don't add value to the car.. or at least what people think.
IE: Buy a car for $50k then dump $20k in mods. The car isn't magically worth $70k now. I've found that with most, it's WAY easier to return the car to stock and then sell the aftermarket stuff. You tend to get a decent chunk of money for the mods at that point. Years ago I would be fine with a modded car. Now I want stock. I get older and do things that I want to do to it for my tastes, not someone else's tastes. I did that with my track bike and got a significant increase in resell because it was a mint stock bike compared to all the aftermarket stuff on it. Then I sold all the aftermarket stuff and actually netted a significant profit compared to what people were offering with everything installed. IE: Everything installed on the bike I was getting offers of $4000. Bike returned to stock sold for $6000, then the exhaust that WAS on the bike I sold for another grand, got $7k total for the bike by splitting stuff up compared to getting $4k with everything included on it. $3k increase was nice. I'd more than likely do the same to my STi if/when the time ever comes.

Yep, agreed. I was half kidding about adding up the mods, just seems most people do that. I'm all for returning a car to stock prior to sale and thanks to groups like this, you can sell your mods to other enthusiasts.

If you look at the 1980's and 90's Japanese cars like Supra twin turbos and others that are now selling for all the money. It is the completely stock ones that bring all the money.

I like some tasteful mods like exhaust and rims, but also now like my cars more stock than modified. I do see why people modify their cars though, it is fun!

Not if your buying a Porsche GT3 RS... I was seeing those flipped for a 100K over sticker in the last few years. That trend seems to have cooled a bit lately.

Me, I have never bought any car for appreciation and have lost thousands over and over and I still keep buying cars.

Yea but then you'd be driving a stock car for 20-30 yrs. If that's what you want in exchange for a possible increase in value, sure, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I agree. First thing I did to my RCF was get an after market exhaust and chuck the factory cans in the scrap pile. LOL
