Default It's insane out there.

I was in Lexus today looking to sell my '20 RC-F. It's sort of a long story.
I was offered $69K, I paid ~$74K
I was stunned.

From what I can tell mine is worth roughly 5k more than I paid for it about 4 months ago.
But I ain't selling
You should put your car into carmax.com, carvana and vroom and get an instant offer as well, might be higher than the dealership.

wow. the tundra market is even more insane. some folks are getting $5k more than they paid after owning for 3 - 4yrs. the last of the 5.7l v8's (2022 will be tt v6) and because of the new truck shortage. new tundras are going for $10-20k over msrp.

Tomorrow, I should hear from the dealer I bought it from. We'll see if they juice the deal

Well I bought my Altima 3 years ago with 17k miles. I paid 17k OTD including certifies preowned program. I sold my car 2 weeks ago, it was 46k miles and I hadn’t changed tires.
I got 2 minor accidents and never reported to insurance company.
Carmax and carvana offered me 14.6k and 14.5k.

I was looking up my 2017 F150 the other day on Kelly Blue Book. I paid 46k for it in 2017. I would rate it in excellent condition. It told me trade in was 39K and private party sale was 47K. I doubt it would sell for 47k but the fact that it says it is worth more than I paid for it was shocking.

Do keep us posted on this one, I'm curious what you ultimately sell it for.

I paid $68k for mine back in November. I just paid it off over the weekend and figured I'd try Carvana just to see what was offered. They offered something like $63ish I believe...lol.

It would be funny taking it to the Lexus dealer and seeing what they'd offer (have no plans on selling it). But if they came back with a high number, who knows...lol... naaa, I'm keeping it!

I will be selling for the $69K offer, the dealer I bought the car from only offered $65K.
I'll miss it but, I still have the '16 Miata and '13 Boxster

I traded in my Track Edition with 5k miles end of January for $88.5k which was well beyond Lexus dealer offers of $80k and a Porsche dealer offer of $73k.

The dealer who took it on trade still has it 6 months later @ $94k.

I went to lunch with an old friend today and afterwards we were over at our local dealer looking at trucks and saw this. Most ridiculous mark up I have ever seen in my life.

Holy crap!
I'm sorry, if you pay that markup you deserve the deal you get.

Hey, that looks pretty similar to the housing market right now!

That's insane. If I ever walked into a dealer and they were charging $50k for market adjustment on something that wasn't INSANELY rare, I'd never buy a car from them ever. Asking $145k for a Dodge Ram truck... Go suck a giant D. I get making money but the sense of greed is insane anymore. It never stops. People just keep trying to take/get more.
