Default RC-F Sales Statistics

Does anyone know how many RC F were sold from 2014-2021. I can only find data on the RC in general. I’m trying to find out how rare the car is. I’ve had mine 2 months so far in NYC and haven’t seen any RC F at all besides mine. I’ve seen 2 350 F sports. I’m looking to confirm my suspicion that the RC F is the most rare coupe in the class by far.

Currently, there is no information (at least what I could find) for model years 2017 and up, but according to this graph which lists the IS F, GS F and RC F, it is quite easy to presume that yes, it may very well be the rarest coupe in its class.

For example, the F80 M3 sold a total of 16,057 units in U.S alone and 34,677 units globally, in just its 4 year lifespan.

Some info in this thread. I think it ends up around 8000 made by vin number survey.

It always felt like there were way more 2015s for sale and now I get why.

Mine was the last 2020 RC F built for the USA.

The 2021 track edition sitting in the dealership in town is tempting me to do a trade up so I had a quick look at used stock right now and there's only 8 that I could find for sale across all of Canada.

The used value is high but still doesn't get me close enough to justify the trade up to the T.E. from my 2015 but it was fun to dream a little.

I saw the same thing on autotrader. Only 8 for sale when there are a few hundred 2015 - 2021 RCFs in Canada. Lowest inventory I have seen in all of these years.

How do you find the build date? Is it on the side plate on the driver door? It would be cool to see where and when the car was built. I don't have a clue with my 2020, but I did buy it in November.

If I remember correctly, the 10th number of VIN tells you the year it was built, and the digit after tells you the plant/factory that it was built at. The exact month will be listed on your driver door plate, probably on the top right of the sticker.

To add what I found elsewhere

Then you have your 12-17 digits which represent the # your car was on the assembly line. They are your car's individual serial #.

061334 means it was the 61,334 vehicle off the assembly line that year
So perhaps flipside909 found out how many RCFs were made in 2020 and found out that he was the last one off the line. Or he had someone from Lexus tell him!

I tried asking Lexus how many RC Fs were sold in 2023 and I got this generic, robotic response. If anyone has better luck getting this info please share.“Thank you for contacting Lexus. We are unable to provide the information you have requested because it is proprietary. Lexus does not share information on our sales figures.”

Is the Lexus brand engagement center lazy to look this up? Because they have provided the RC F sales figures in the past.

It’s mind boggling Toyota releases “RC” sales but doesn’t break out RC F sales. Whoever at Toyota compiles this list must think all Lexus “RC” vehicles are the same. Another bizarro, head scratcher.

I used to reach out every year and update a different thread with sales numbers. In 2023 they gave me that generic response and after I told them they've given the info before, they said something about changing their policy and limiting sales numbers to what's released in press releases. I think it's pretty lame considering F owners are more likely to be brand enthusiasts.

Here's the last available numbers provided by Lexus before they stopped giving out this info:

Lexus RCF Sales Numbers (USA)

2014 - 321
2015 - 2251
2016 - 1195
2017 - 670
2018 - 352
2019 - 325
2020 - 293
2021 - 223
2022 -

Total - 5,630 (thru 21)

GSF Sales
2015 - 27
2016 - 1053
2017 - 454
2018 - 232
2019 - 135
2020 - 151
2021 - 30

Total - 2,082

Note: these are sales values, not model year production numbers. For example, my 2015 date of first sale was actually in mid 2016.

Easy Peasy. Do a quick search on a 2024 new arrival on trader and look at the VIN.
So we are at around 9000 wordwide/ 10yrs?
