Stupid Instrument Panel

Stupid Instrument Panel
I've had my RC F for less than a week. Even during the test drive I didn't like the cockpit displays. Tiny analog speedo that you can't get rid of in the bottom right. 3 meters in the upper left that are too small to read. Drive mode selector changes the middle displays with no option for you to customize. Only thing you can customize is the bottom left area and even that only gives you various specific info you can display one at a time. Granted, I'm spoiled that my other vehicle is a Lincoln that has the entire driver display customizeable to however you want it to look. It's a video screen for gossake.

I think it is fine, but I really could care less for over done super tech dash boards. I maybe showing my age though. I would be fine with an old school all analog dash in a sports car. But, that is never coming back.
I do find the RCF Navigation and Info-tainment difficult and dated, but I can still live with it. My 2017 Ford F150 has a better Nav info-tainment system. The system in my wifes new Mazda CX-5 is really good and I like the really simple digital dashboard. I think Mazda has done a good job.
I have not seen the Lincoln dash. What model is it?

You 100% aren't getting the latest tech in an RC-F, Toyota is always late to the party. CarPlay and Android Auto are RECENT additions.
If you didn't like it during the test drive it was ultimately your choice to purchase it. Hopefully you get used it.
I personally love it and don't find any of it too small to read.

The Lincoln is a '19 Nautilus to tow the boat. Yah, posh ride. The RC F was bought because there just aren't that many 8 cylinder cars anymore - especially ones with a nice feel. Yah, I knew going in it wasn't perfect, but not much is. Our old ('08) ES350 also has crap infotainment system, so I knew it wasn't likely to be "the best". I'll get used to it. I posted my disappointment on the offchance that Lexus might actually look at these once in a while, hoping the next generation is better. I will check the menus (I've perused the manual, though and can't find something, so let me know where to look). Infotainment isn't that important to me, but I do want important stuff easily seen on the cockpit displays, like speed (fortunately there is a digital display since that junky analog in the bottom right is impossible to read at a glance. It's funny, since a good friend is an automotive engineering psychologist who (in the 1970s) did studies on how to design instruments to convey important information at a glance---you'd think Lexus might have done some research. There is actually some science (see Tachistoscope).

I am sure Lexus engineers hate research. They should have called your friend and asked him where to put the speedometer. The 1970's? The 1970's? Really. The only thing I remember from the 1970's is, The Planet of the Apes.
I am joshing you a little...LOL
The speedometer shows in my tach. It also turns yellow on the MPH at 93 and red at 100 on the MPH. Not that I have ever driven that fast. Law and order, you know. Very easy to see. Maybe they deleted this on later years?

Mine is the first version of the RCF so it has the oldest infotainment system of the three versions (2015 - 2017, 2018 - 2019 and then 2020+) and antiquated compared to the one you have in your 2020+. It does not bother me because I rarely ever use it. Lexus figured all of the big stuff out, which is the seats, sitting position, interior cockpit like feel and material quality fit, finish etc. Those are the big items. I agree the analog speedometer is unnecessary and could have all been incorporated in a large center screen, but the gauge cluster is decently good and I have it customized quite a lot (using 'registering' the sub-menu screens in the tach and I switched the skins for SPORT+ and SPORT mode).
Most importantly, it is an awesome driving experience so that is what really matters to me.
