Default conditioning the leather in my car

having recently bought a 2019 RC F 10th anniversary edition with 582 miles on it was a dream of mine. Love the car. I conditioned the leather in the car this weekend. I bought my first Lexus (2015 RC350 FSport) 4 years ago, I am the type of person that is big about keeping my vehicles clean and do proper maintenance. The local Lexus dealer gave me a free can of glass cleaner and free bottle of their leather conditioner / cleaner. I have always used Meguiar's leather conditioner / cleaners in the past and liked them. Anyways. I used the Lexus leather conditioner on my RC350 every few months and found it worked really well.

My RC F still smells brand new. I did not think about the leather had not been conditioned since it was purchased. It was amazing at how much the leather was absorbing the conditioner!!! It was almost like the leather sighed with relief when I was done.

Good to hear. I have had my RCF for 4+ years and have never conditioned the leather. Still is perfect in every way, though. Good idea for a little project. Maybe, one of the projects over winter months when it will be sitting in the garage.

Was there a noticeable difference between Meguiars and Lexus'?

The Meguires is the one I have used on multiple vehicles. I like it a lot. Cleans and shines without leaving it too greasy.

Chemical Guys SPI_109_16 Leather Cleaner and Leather Conditioner Kit for Use on Leather Apparel, Furniture, Car Interiors, Shoes, Boots, Bags & More (2 - 16 Oz Bottles)
Amazon Amazon

This stuff is great and I’ve used everything under the sun..Maguire’s, Griots, leather Honey, Lexol, etc. Chemical Guys is the one I recommend. Feels and dries great. Smells like leather.

You know that it’s not actually the leather hide you’re conditioning. It’s the top layer synthetic clear coat.

Checked my car's spec sheet, looks like its NuLuxe Leather while the steering wheel is leather wrapped. Also found this interesting read: https://leather-toolkits.com/types-o...uluxe-leather/

I had previously bought a brand new 2012 Jetta TDi. I liked the car and it had pleather seats. They were less leather feeling than vinyl. But, they had a decent leather look to them and were did not show any wear. I've had other cars with leather and pleather. I have always treated the seats in my cars. The seats in all 3 of the Lexus vehicles I owned or have owned (my wife has a 2015 RX350 with the dark brown leather seats) have had great quality and felt / smelled like leather.
