He did a DIY on swapping the pads only. He is still using the OEM rotors from what I understand.
When I did the 60K service on my RC350, I had only replaced the front pads. The rear pads had a lot left. I did notice that the very outside of the rotors had a slightly raised lip from where the first 60K of use had worn down the rotors a small amount where the pads touched. I was really impressed how good the rotors looked after 60K miles. So, I only added new pads. Fast forward another 55K miles...I would very occasionally hear a high pitch whine when going down the highway. The tone of the sound would drop as I slightly touched the brakes then no sound at all. I knew what the issue would be. I took it to a friends shop to do the pads again and have him turn the rotors. The outer edge of the rotor was taller now and the sound was it touching the edge of the pad. The rotors still had lots of life in them.
