iPhone Output Defaults to Wired/Dock vs Bluetooth When Plugged Into USB
Hi all,
Newer owner of a 2015 RCF. One of the frustrating things I've noticed, is since I'm always default streaming from my iPhone (12 mini) when the car turns on, I'd like it to stay that way. However, whenever I plug in my iPhone to the armrest USB port (which I know doubles as an iPod dock), it switches whatever app is streaming over to the 'RC DOCK' and thus, the music stops since my media player in on Bluetooth in the RC's head unit. Then I have to go into the phone's app, and switch it to Bluetooth, everytime.
Is there anyway to disable this from happening and simply use the USB port in the armrest as a normal USB port for charging, so that it doesn't trigger the iPhone to switch to the docking connection vs the Bluetooth connection?

Charges just as well and the car doesn't try to connect to anything because it can't

The USB port doesn't provide enough amperage to charge my Samsung, so I have a normal charger in the 12V port. I only use the car USB ports if my wife or daughter want to play something off their iPhones so I don't have to pair with bluetooth. I had loaded up a thumb drive at one point also, but generally never used it since I just stream from Spotify.
Maybe there's a setting in the iPhone to disable the dock mode?

Apparently, you can add apple carplay to some older RCs, but you essentially have to take apart the entire dashboard. The video link below is a really good tutorial on how to take the cockpit apart.
