Default will Rcf fuji edition appreciate in value

Hello forum members, got the privilege to see a 2022 RCF Fuji edition in the stunning Electric surge colour, only 60 unites will be produced worldwide, i am heavily leaning towards it, but the price tag is a bit hefty. It got me thinking, will this car hold its value or even appreciate over time.

So much of that question relies on what you do to the car. How will you drive it, how much will you drive it, where will it be parked, will it get dinged or be in an accident, what mods (if any) will you do. Then you have to figure why you want it and guess whether there will be people like you in the future. Personally I hate that wing so would never consider one. A good indicator might be found for the track edition cars and seeing if any are for sale and what the price is like considering what they cost new. Or check out kbb and pretend you own one and are asking for resale value.

Yes, I believe after several years once RCF is relegated to the history books, they will appreciate in value. Lexus cars tend to be more appreciated once they are no longer manufactured. I believe same is the case here.

I'd prefer stocks or real estate for investments... cars are meant to be driven.

Rarity does not equal value. It will take a long time for a preowned RCF, even a Fuji or TE, to sell for more than MSRP. If you are buying it in the hopes of not losing money you are making a mistake.

No, never! It’s NOT an LFA. Don’t buy if that’s your goal.

I bought my RCF used a few years ago and I think it will sell today for more than I paid for it, so in the short term it went up. I also think it is such an end of an era car that the build quality coupled with a high revving V8 will also make it more desirable in the future. These are the last of the big V-8 cars. I think this will tend to increase value over time.

Same here. Due to the rarity in my region, my RCF with only 10K miles now has a higher market value than it was 4 years ago when I purchased it mildly used. Some of it is because of inflation and chip shortage pushing the prices up.

However, I don't pay much attention as I just like to enjoy it. I agree one should buy a car to enjoy it rather than as an investment opportunity.

I think it will appreciate in 10 years when there are no more ICE Lexus. But not if you drive it. You’d have to basically just store it as an investment. Personally I think there are way better choices if you’re looking for an appreciating car. Like a pristine limited edition Huracan or 911 or even a yellow Civic Type R.

limited production numbered special edition vehicles dont always hold or increase their value. Unless that vehicle is number 001 or something else about that vehicle that makes it unique.

Do not buy it as a investment is all I can say.
I had a 20 TE that I bought new and enjoyed the car but was looking for more of a track car not a Grand Touring car which is what I would describe the TE as…

I tried to sell it privately for 6 months with not even a bite from anyone. I then proceeded to shoot it around to various dealers and brokers and was in shock with what offers I was getting.
70-80k max and my TE was spotless, garage queen, never seen rain, 5000 miles. At the same time I had 1 offer from my online ad @ $80k.

I ended up trading it in on my new car after I received a fair offer of 88.5k trade in and in our state of WA we get the tax break so it wasn’t too bad of a deal. The buying dealer still has the car forsale today 11 months later…

The TE is a great and well built car but you will take a huge hit if you have to sell in the short term after buying it like most any car.

I had the same experience with my 2020 TE. Bought at a slight MSRP discount in 2019 and recently traded for another Lexus. Still lost some money but it was as expected, even considering the crazy market we are in. Many who bought used cars a few years ago will get more now than they paid back then, but the cars are still not selling for over MSRP to my knowledge. The LFA could still be had for around MSRP 12-18 months ago. It wasn't until recently that the cars took off, like almost everything else. I am waiting for the music to stop. It is a great time to sell but not so great to buy.

Better sell and lock in those profits NOW. Toyota announced production levels back to that of a year ago... “production output recovers as parts crunch eases”.
