Default Track RCF

I a very critic of this F but never thought end up with this platform . 2017 CPO 28k miles TVD/ CFroof/wing/AVS/ML pack. Got it 2 weeks ago. I put some necessary track upgrades so that i can Test the car in the track.
Today i have the chance to bring it to thunderhill raceways together with our Supra. And Yes this car is good in the track. I was able to head to head with GT4s, 2 Shelby GT 350s. Its so much fun. The TVD works like the osgiken in my ISF. The car understeer bigtime. Cant wait to put some 305, 18 wheels, aero and suspension upgrades if theres any. Now im itching to strip it to loss weight.

Welcome to the club. Awesome track build. Looking forward to updates. I agree, TVD is just magic and love especially slalom mode in how it makes the car react so quickly. I put better tires than the OEM PSS, which are PS4S with extra load tires (96Y front and 100Y rear) and it made a big difference especially in corner sidewall deflection under high G-load. I am sure R-compound tires would make a much bigger difference.

Can't wait to see more of this thread. The RCF got a bad rap from the press. I think it is a much better than people think.

Coming from a supercharge isf with osgiken, the TVD surprized me coz my buddys saw me drifting in the corners. The great thing was, the power, with only the invidia cat back i have those 2 shelby gt 350s cant gapped me at the straights that max out to 130mph. Those cars are 526hp.
Apex wheels did a 3D scanning for custom 18 wheels.
Any thought from you guys about cjanging to Swift SpecR springs. Seems like the RCF stock springs ars thicker than Swift. and Im thinking changing the springs or coilover will ruin the AVS system. I want this f lowered coz 18s is coming.

Agreed. I have had an Invidia for almost 3 years and the powerband from midrange all the way to the rev limiter feels much more powerful than it did when it was stock. RR racing says around +18 whp with a full exhaust typically. The 8 speed gearing also might be a factor vs the GT350 on the straights.

TVD actually makes the car very tail happy as the TVD is supposed to offer rotation through the corner under throttle in order to move the center of rotation towards the back and to suppress any mid-corner understeer. It will be the most tail happy in slalom mode from my experience. What I have learned from trying to explore the limits with TVD is, you need to really get on the power sooner once you settle into the turn. TVD also applies reverse torque on the motors when you are in the braking zone to allow for late braking. The TVD will start to rotate the rear giving you more nose authority through the turn. This is of course with the assumption you are in a low gear through the turn and use the throttle to really throttle-steer through the turn and TVD will allow to carry more speed through the turn.

Here is a chart for you to see the behavior of the TVD into, through and out of the turn.

Would be really cool to see how they look.

Lexus developed a new F-AVS in 2017, which was different from other ones found in RC/IS/GS. The 2017 F-AVS has been notorious for being the first version of an F-AVS and had some issues with failure. People who had their 2017 F-AVS fail, had them replaced free of charge under warranty because it was a known issue. However, understandably you want to lower the car and swift spring R are one of the better matched lowering springs for the RCF (compared to RSR). However, in order to avoid risking any issues with the AVS dampers.

A lot of ppl switch over to a coil over setup. I haven’t heard of people with issues from switching over.

Coilovers won't ruin the AVS system, its just that they can't be used with the AVS. Leaving the AVS connectors unplugged will not throw any codes or do any damage whatsoever (many 3IS guys can attest to this), however it is a wise idea to tie up the connectors and place ends on them so that way they don't corrode or fly around.

I started doing HPDE's last year and am loving it. Looking forward to seeing options and ideas to set the car up even better, even though it's really capable in this novice's eyes.

Awesome pictures. Noticed you have top-spec CF/TVD, but the headlights are HID and not the LEDs. I guess, in the US the LED options were stand-alone. Quite a rare combination. That is on stock suspension right? It is probably corner loading where it looks like it is lowered LOL
