Default RCF TE vs BMW M2 at the Nurburgring

Not really a VS since the RCF driver had to keep letting off to avoid running into him. It is stock with sticky tires. Considering RCF TE is 400+ lbs heavier, the RCF actually looked so much more composed than the M2, which seemed to have way too much flex/compression going on. People talk about how heavy RCF is, but proof it is not all about how much weight you carry as the magic happens at the suspension/chassis tuning.

Yokohama A052s...that's some good rubber (giggity). He was really booking it...I wonder if Barry puckered up when they approached the turn where he crashed....cuz his friend was coming in hot (giggity)

It is also ironic how a German driver is taking a Japanese built RCF to the limits to show a German ultimate driving machine who is taking over

Those tires are incredible. My PS4S would never stick like that. They must be racing slicks.

The PS4S lasts longer and actually grips in the wet.

A052s are 200TW comp tires like cup 2s. Getting these and only doing groceries in them is like dating a supermodel that doesn’t put out…kind of a useless flex…lol

PS4S tires are really street max performance tires for some light track duties, but would never hold up for heavy duty track work especially like the way Julius is driving his RCF in this video.

Yeah the way he came in so hot on those turns and just grip…it’s like he unlocked a cheat code 🤣

He does a 7:54 completely stock with the ADVAN A052 tires and a passenger and traffic. Easily could have been a 7:40 - 7:45 without traffic and no passenger.

What a stud. I admit it took me a few tries to get down below 8s in a GTR…in Gran Turismo….

Yeah. he is a great driver for sure. He is close to matching almost (older F-series) M4 CS of 7:38 in the hands of a pro factory driver with no traffic, no passenger in a stock RCF TE (with slick tires, but the M4 CS had Cup 2 as well).

Don't we have a convertible center frame section? I know most of our car's added weight vs other similar cars is the monocoque, but the positive tradeoff is it's extremely stiff. My guess is the M2 has a fair bit of flex by comparison, which would contribute to why it looked so unsettled.

Correct, the convertible center was meant to provide a very stiff core of the car since RCF has a welded roof as well. For example, the middle section has cross members that run the width of the chassis. Those are normally not found in a coupe chassis. Also, the rocker panels are 200% thicker than that of a 3IS etc. That is just the base RC chassis. Then, RCF gets further rigidity elements like rear subframe strengthening, underbody braces, front tower braces etc.

I think the Bimmers knocked those cones on purpose to get a head start on the RCF, they didn't want any of that smoke but to no avail. Lol
That Porsche is on another level!
