Default Trade in offer

Hi - I am offered 58K for my 2019 10th anniversary with 19k miles. This is the best offer I have gotten. I am 2nd owner and car is clean. Is this a decent offer considering the market is dropping? Or shall I try private party? Trading in for LS500.k Love the RCF but too small for my needs currently.

You'll almost always get more if you sell privately. That's not a bad offer but you're probably leaving a couple of grand on the table.
That said, you can obviously avoid the hassle of selling it, strangers coming to test drive it, etc.

Yep. Trade off of getting dealership to take the car off you. You will get less money for it, but it will save all of the hassle and time it takes to have test drives etc., but in the end private sale ALWAYS yields much better ROI.

Not sure how it works in CA but in my state (GA), if you trade in and purchase another vehicle from same dealership, your advorem tax would be based off on the cost difference only. So in this case, I’d save 7% of $58k (almost $4k) which is a factor when shopping.

As for what your car is worth, i recently bought 2019 10th anniversary GSF and paid significantly more than your trade in offer. (Certified, 4K more miles than yours). Not to say RCF and GSF market is same but based on the original MSRP, i think your trade in offer should be higher.

thanks for sharing this info! I paid 64k in April at the night of the market. Carmax offered me 52. Carvana 46k. It’s brutal out there right now and it will hit retail soon. Wholesale is getting hit hard now. You got a far more unique car. I wanted one and it was over my budget!

It seams like most of the 2019 RCF 10th anniversary models for sale out there have been in accidents / salvage title. The ones that aren't and dont have crazy mileage are not cheap.

4 available any distance from me. 2 are salvage title. 2 are not and they are quite a bit more.

The two non salvaged cars have been for sale since before I bought mine (April). The one asking 88k might as well as for 188K It does seem like no one is selling theirs now besides these. I can't recall how many were made, 100 or so? That's not a small amount considering the RCF didn't sell in big numbers passed 2015.

240 were made. I found a good number of those when I bought mine last September on autotrader and similar sites. Just for grins, I looked around a little bit on different sites and see very few for sale.

probably many were lease returns of people cashing out due to the market.

You were offered 58K for your 2019 RCF? Wow. I was at the Lexus dealer this afternoon and was looking at a 2022 RCF AWD and the list price is $60,505 with only 9 miles on it.

Because that is not an RCF. It is an RC AWD. Even a base RCF starts at $70k. Completely different car as RCF is a lot more expensive for being a high performance model.

Thanks for the correction. I just went to the lexus site and now I see the difference. I was looking at an RC 350 F today. Oops.

lol no worries 2 different cars. My MSRP was 84k. I decided to hold on to it for now. I think it will hold value pretty well.
