Whats the stickiest tires I can get for the OEM rims? I plan on using them as track day wheels instead of my VSXX's.

A Set of Road racing slicks. Hoosier is highly recommended in for this category.

Are you looking for competition tires and plan on trailering your vehicle or are you looking for the best handling street legal tire? I have looked for both for the stock rims. The best sizes I have been able to find in a competition tire are 235/35R19 fronts and 265/30R19 rears. There are several manufactures that make this size (Hankook, Toyo, and several others I think).

I was thinking about buying another set of the stock rims and mounting Nitto NT05s on them. They seem like one of the most extreme street legal tires you can buy that come in 245/35R19 front and 275/30R19 rear. And that is the widest you can put on the stock rims. Those are the size tires I am currently running on my stock rims, but I have Continental ExtremeContact DWS ultra high performance A/S, which suit me better for daily driving.

For a Dedicated 'non' street tire, but DOT legal tire... the fastest alternative would be:
Hoosier R6 / or A6 Race Tires:

235/35ZR19 $308.00 (ea.)
265/35ZR19 $320.00 (ea.)

Prices from Tirerack.

I think Dave's idea with the 285's on all four corners is a better idea. With stock or stock-like stagger F/R the car will understeer. It needs all the rubber you can get under it...

I'm going to put the 285/30/18 sizing into some chassis software and figure out exactly what it does, but from Dave's results, I'd say it has to be all good even if it looks bad mathematically.

It's mostly all about the driver....

I'm sure he could have pulled near the same time, with stock rims LOLOL (on SLICKs)

I was thinking of the NT05's, the Hoosiers seem interesting but I think the Nitto's will offer a better bang for the buck as I hone my skills. Thanks for the input everyone.

Nice work Dave, but I think you're right, the car isn't properly classified. Still, it's got to be fun to pull off one like this!

Yeah, cars like this are always in a tough spot... the next class up is Corvette's & Porsche's... so it's either 'better than most' in one, or not as good as most in another.

I'm used to getting 'classed' as 'driver' and not as vehicle. I don't know how to 'Sand Bag'... so it is what it is.

The sad fact is... I knew that track was perfect for our cars... great brakes... and large open horsepower straights... if it were a tighter more technical track... it would have been much tougher... luckily, I have a 'real race' car that I campaign in 'it's designated' class... so I'm not to worried where they put the F later... if I come out with it again... it will be just for fun as this was.

Peace,
Dave
