Default Using 4/5 Pts Harness on Stock 2007 IS250 for AutoX?!?

Hello Everybody!

I am contemplating to become a member of SCCCA NY and participating in AutoX and Track.

I want to use a 4 or 5 point harness, but for now, planning to use them on my stock seats. Btw., My car (new to me) seems to have the F Sport package that was introduced in 2007, the year of my model.

Anybody has tips or brands or both you can recommend?

Thanks!

I would have these installed by a professional, with the use of a properly designed harness bar. This is your life you're talking about here and anything short of a proper install can really do damage to your body in a collision. I don't think use of the stock seats is favorable either. Look through the rule book of whichever club you plan on joining and see what they say regarding the use of harnesses. Lots of highly reputable brands out there; Willans, Sabelt, Schroth, Takata, Simpson, Racetech, Sparco, Racequip, etc. To be honest, unless you're really pushing it, I really don't think you absolutely need these right now, especially if you're just getting into it.

Yeah, thanks for your input, CSpecISF!

But, no, SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) does NOT require a racing harness for Autocross in my class, but working stock seatbelts!

However, I was able to get on Ebay the CG Seatbelt Lock that has been recommended widely, which holds you firmly in the seat without shifting around.

Installing a harness bar, will make my car almost useless for my daily driving and taking people (assistants, models, creative team members) with me to photo shoot locations.

However, as I've said, a racing harness is not a requirement for Autocross and SCCA is not a small, obscure organization with lax standards.

Still, thank you for your thoughts!
