[1999 RX300] Grinding when slowing down at low speeds?
Hi all, I recently purchased a 1999 RX and I notice that every once in a while I feel grinding through the brake pedal when slowing down at low speeds. I’m concerned that it’s the transmission since it’s the same feeling I got in my 2019 civic before the transmission died on me. Granted that was a CVT and this is not but I’m still concerned. Has anyone experienced this issue or heard of it and how to fix and what is likely going on? It’s also throwing a P1133 code which as I understand is the A/F sensor. This wouldn’t have anything to do with it would it?

It's probably low speed ABS activation. Lots of threads on it. Try disabling the ABS and see if it stops
This post shows the ABS relay location. Pulling it out will disable the ABS system (abs light will illuminate on dashboard).
Brakes work fine, just no ABS.

Do keep in mind that braking action is really grinding going on. Check for smooth rotors and quality pads. Also brake fluid needs regular maintenance.
Grinding inside transmission is a separate issue.

Almost definitely ABS problem. Grinding noise is scary. I pulled ABS solenoid/fuse and problem went away. I pulled the sensors from the wheels and cleaned. I then blew pressurized air into the sensor hole to clean the notched "Tone Ring" that the sensor reads off. These can all be come dirty. My problem was fixed this way but others have had to replace parts. Car runs perfectly with the fuse out, btw. You just don't have ABS which may or may to be a problem if you have to stop fast. Always better to have systems working.
