Default Limp mode question

We just bought a used 2001 RX300 for our niece, we brought from Ukraine.
Has P0330 code, knock sensor. I already ordered sensor.
Question: it shows CEL and VSC lights in the dash, of course. Drives quite well but will those lights put power train into the limp mode? As in - preventing overdrive from engaging?
We had a 99 model before and it seems like as if this one starts and drives in OD fine, doing 60 mph at about 2100 RPM, just like it should. But then, after some time, at seems that OD does not engage anymore. Goes into 3000 rpm at high speed.
For some reason, I don't know why, my scanner hangs on module 7, Driver door scan. My other scanner, CAN BUS capable, won't connect to ECM at all. Torque pulled only P0330, but Torque is very basic.
So I can't get in-depth scan and not sure, what's going on with transmission. Shifts fine. I mean, everything works fine.

OK, all I need to know, if it does or not, thank you. Almost gave me palpitations yesterday. Son took it out for a spin, of course, he's a big Lexus guru, now that he has 2, comes back, and tosses that "well, trannie is shot I think" at me....

What is it doing under load without using overdrive as i never use it. I would suggest replacing air filter oil trans filter and fluid as flow may me of issue. If you really are in limp mode it isn't going to go the speed limit it will be a slug. If it is somewhere in between could be load of things that slow car down.

All fluids are due as soon as I get time to. As I said, after start up, it drives and engages OD fine, for about 5 minutes. Then, OD stops engaging and it drives in 3 gears mode. I found several threads saying that knock sensor will prevent OD from engaging.
No, not a slug. Drives quite well actually, just some vibration, but that just needs cleaning and replacing that sensor.

Knock sensor issue will generate specific trouble code. Check our DIY in the sticky threads. The replacement requires about 6 hrs of work [less or more based on skill level].

That's how I know it's knock sensor, I pulled code.
it's just plenum removal, no big deal. I'll do plugs same time, while bank 2 is cleared.

The cost goes up as it will require gaskets and wire harness. imho the harness and gaskets must be replaced. Please take the vin number to get the right sensors and beware as many members have reported that the fix did not happen by sensor replacement. My first reaction [which may be wrong] is the sensors were not genuine. You will loose coolant and seriously think about the cross over hose replacement. $$.

I have to confirm that P0330 WILL disable OD engagement.
I am very cautiously saying that I tried a fix but do not want to post anything on it, until vehicle has few weeks of driving. Unfortunately, as its owner does not have DL yet, car simply sits in my property. I'll update, as it develops.

Google "RX300 diagnostics pdf" and read page DI-63

Not correct. You can drive very fast in limp mode, right up to the redline. Speed is only limited by the RPMs, as limp mode on these just disables going into overdrive. I just went through this, but I have it fixed now.
