Easiest way to command AC clutch on?
2001 190k
Hi, as the compressor hidden down there, what is the simplest way to send power to the AC clutch to see if it snaps closed? I do not see a relay in the fusebox or another quick way to test.
Thank you

There are number of things involved in sending compressor ON signal. ECU run condition, cabin thermostat, refrigerant pressure sensor. See if you can grab schematic and find the most convenient spot [Still exercise caution as you will be overriding safety like low pressure sensor].
I set the cabin to COLD and then try to listen for a distinctive click, followed by the ball bearing kind of noise. Other indicators are pressure gauge or gauges which start showing rise in low and fall in high side. Other advantage of the pressure gauge is that it confirms there is enough refrigerant in the system.
Summer is coming. It is already here in the South.
