Default 2000 lexus rx300 automatic tranny awd has trouble shifting. what could it be?

thursday april 25

car stopped at red light. turns green, pressed gas lightly. car doesn’t move. press gas more then car jerks and clunks then moves normally

18 days

monday may 13

car in park just started it. put it in reverse, car doesn’t move. press harder car clunks jerks and moves

6 days

sunday may 19th

tried to put car in drive and it again doesnt start crawling like it should when foot is off the brake. take foot off gas. put in park. put in drive. press gas little more and then it clunks and jerks then moves normally

monday may 27

car made the parking break sound every time my car revved from being stopped to 2000 rpm. it wouldn’t make the beep when i revved up to 2000 rpm while already having been driving. * not sure if this is related to what’s going on *

THOUGHTS
this feels like a transmission issue. i need to perform a fluid drain and change and i’ll change the filter too. my fluid level is good but the color is not. also i’m not sure what kind of fluid to get for the tranny fluid refill once i drain it? please help!

Please share odo reading and when and what transmission service was done.

I would highly recommend visiting a reputable transmission shop. Investigation is required. If you the drain and fill service yourself, the shop may not be able to diagnose.

Worst case a rebuilt transmission 3-5K or best case transmission service 500? You can prepare for both options and you may be able to rule out one.

Fluid is T-IV. See the DIY: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...er-change.html

I experienced a similar symptom a few times years ago and it went away after I drained, dropped pan, replaced screen with paper filter, refilled.
Good luck
