Default Door Speakers

Does anyone know if any other Toyota/Lexus speakers would work in a 2000 RX300. I am making a run to Pull-a-Part tomorrow for a few things and I have one speaker that is shot and would like to replace it. Also, what aftermarket speakers are a direct fit? Thanks y'all.

Pull-a-part would not be my first choice. The speakers you take out from an old vehicle would most likely be in a bad shape due to age.

Search and also look in Special interest Audio sub forum.

My first choice would be audio-video equipment sellers [specially car audio]. They can also provide fitment guide.

Yeah, I've always looked at speakers while there and most of them have been pretty well roached. Thanks for the advice.

If you can find a speaker at your salvage yard that isn't blown out then grab it. Metra makes speaker adapters for your car here is another option.

Crutchfield (sp?) is a big name. You can find deals at Best Buy etc.

Very few times the coil in the speaker burns out and most of the time the cone suspension material rots out due to age. This rot accelerates when the speaker is exposed to weather and most of the vehicles in the pic-a-part are exposed to weather.

The 2001-2007 Highlander JBL speakers are a direct fit and sound pretty good. Very flat/neutral and have good bass response for 6.5s plus they are easy to EQ. They are slept on for stock speakers as they sound less than ideal with the stock crappy JBL head unit that came in Highlanders, but they are great for an OE speaker. Best part is that if you ever want to change them out or they fail, you can unscrew the speaker from the stock bracket and put in an aftermarket 6.5" in there - a bracket far better than the aftermarket ones and something you can't do on most of the other Toyota speakers. They are also still going strong after 22 years.

I have a full set of 2006-2012 Toyota Avalon JBL speakers in my 2008 RX350, I pulled all 8 speakers for less than 80 dollars and it was a direct fit P&P wiring-wise apart from slightly modifying the mounts for the front dash speakers and tweeters, this was a massive upgrade over the stock Pioneer speakers which sounded too scratchy and high in mids for my taste. Esp the dash speakers and tweeters. I think junkyard speakers are fine as long as the cones aren't stiff and they weren't sitting in water for days.

I can also confirm Infinity Reference 6.5" speakers fit the stock JBL Highlander brackets. These were an upgrade over the JBL speakers, but I was still super impressed with how well the factory JBL speakers performed. They are going strong in my friend's 2013 Matrix where they were a huge upgrade over the stock cheap tiny magnet paper speakers.

^ This post shows what you can do with the JBL brackets, they also have a wiring harness built into them so you can adapt them to fit aftermarket speakers too
