Default our speed limiter is the suck

hit my limiter for a total of 12 times this weekend on a road trip averaging 100mph. I was hustling along nicely around a hundred when i pass this white IS300 with bright HIDs, he wasnt amused and took after my a$$. In about 10 seconds he was right behind me and gaining.
Pedal to the floor and suddenly, BAM! I hit that all too familiar speed limiter and im forced to slow to around 95, this repeats itself for around 3 more times so i can grasp that thin line between no limiter and limiter which is keeping the car around 104 or so.
Needless to say the IS showed me whos boss, but he then just followed me "chicken style" for the rest of the 30 minute trip. I was doing about a 100 for the entire one hour trip in long fast sweeper type hi-ways. Im impressed with my RX's behavior at terminal velocity but handling hard turns at those speeds makes my palm sweat because of the excessive body lean. Dont try this at home.

Time for an ECU that gets rid of the limiter??? Recomendations?? Price??

I think it would be in the public's interest to keep our SUV's at reasonable speeds.

either that or its to let us consume less gas, because our ride drinks gas like buckets of BUD at high speed. Normally during hiway cruising, i get 400 miles to a tank, but at 100MPH my car gets just 300 a tank. Certainly the brick like aerodynamics didnt help.

Funny how my IS was the total opposite; the faster I drove, the better MPG I got; totally different w/ the 330; does it have anything to do with the I6/V6 engine configuration??

You may know how fast your RX can go but I bet you didn't realize that at 104 mph it would take you over one and a half football fields to stop. Hope you don't fiind that out the hard way. Try not to kill anyone.

"Killing people with your RX is the suck" to put it in terms you may understand.

Johns,

I like speed, but with the RX.... I think we all need a limiter!

Maybe it's time to buy a car made for speed, cornering and acceleration. That's why I also keep a little car!

Way too fast for me, a blowout at that speed and one is toast! I keep it under 80.
Feel you're pain though, if I got to 100 I would want to top 'er out!

Exactly what I was thinking.

Do us a favor and let us know the next time you decide to drive like a moron. As a fellow CA resident, I'd prefer to be nowhere near you.

i like how when someone posts how fast they were going, people like to tell them how stupid they are, as if they didnt already realize that it's dangerous to go that fast. im sure a few internet posts arent going to make him slow down.... by the way, i drive fast too.

It's funny to see people tell other people speeding is dangerous.

It's funnier to see people try to tell other people speeding is dangerous by blocking the left line on the highway and causes road rage.

haha yea i love that, when someone decides that you're driving too fast, so they get in your way, only making it worse for a wreck.... or when you pass a line of cars, just cruising at your speed, and someone jumps out of that line of cars to follow you because they want to pass you since you passed them... although you were never intrested in racing anyone

True, as much as I have gotten used to the feel of the RX at speed (70-90 MPH) it sure is a scarry compared to a sports car. Just when I think the RX handles pretty good I jump into the NSX and realize just why an SUV was never made to handle speed
