Well, I'm sure something like this has been asked, before, but searching turned up nothing.
I'm due for a 45,000 mile serice and my manual clearly lists an oil change, tire rotation and A/C filter as the items to be taken care of along with inspecting some other items. We've been told by my dealer that this is a 4-hour job at a cost of $500 or so. Anyone done a similar service recently and can comment on if my wife (yes, my wife called for the appointment, not me) is being given a line?
Maybe I should call and see what they quote me :-)
We service the car every 7500 miles as the manual recommends and have no problems with the car. Just trying to keep it that way. This seems steep for an oil change ($50?), tire rotation ($50) and air filter ($50).
Thanks for any insights,
Dave
P.S. I have asked my dealer for an explanation but want a "second" opinion to I can ask about his response...

dzar:
Had the same question for our dealer for our 15K service. He indicated a "recommended" list of services that were much more than what Lexus manual demanded.
Their explanation was that "In the area that we live in, we determined that these are the best set of services to be performed". Best for them, I am sure
So I went with what was recommended only in the manual and the bill came down from $450 odd to $125, which was still high for what essentially was an oil change, tire rotation, visual inspections and a road test.
Be firm about what you want and if you can document that you had the service performed as required by the manual, then Lexus will have to honor their warranty (if that's a concern for you).

Put in a K & N air filter and then clean it your self. Get your tires rotated free at Costco.
Buy a Mobile 1 oil filter your self. It is a much higher quality filter, take it to your Lexus dealed with you.
