Rear bumper cracked

Has anyone had an issue with the rear bumper cracking? Mine has cracked from the bottom right brace all the way to the top of the bumper. I am assuming that someone has hit the car in a parking lot, but there isn't a scrape, scratch, scuff, or any kind of mark on the bumper. I would have expected to see some evidence that the bumper was tagged in a lot. But nothing. I have called about a replacement, but wanted to ask to see if by some slim chance anyone else has had a problem like this.
Many thanks,
RickC

RC,
Haven't seen any cracks on my 99 so far. I've had horozontal cracks on other vehicles from "parking lot neighbors".
It would be interesting to see the crack you are talking about if you have a digital camer handy.

Do you mean the actual bumper or just the paint?
My 99 on the top, left rear side suffered paint erosion. The car was black with that gray bottom. I eventually had it painted all black with DuPont and it has held up incredibly well even when someone hits me from behind.
Here in Mexico, the put what they call pastel on the vehicle where it would be cracked along with some bonding compound before repainting the area. Much, much cheaper and it holds up well. A diplomatic friend with an ES300 did that there as opposed to getting the part. No problems thus far.

It's the actual bumper. It starts are the mounting brace on the right side near the exhaust and goes all the way up to the top of the bumper. I am sure the car was hit in a lot, but I can't see how with no evidence. This car is black too and everyone knows how hard it is to keep scratches out of black.
Thanks for the replies,
