I hope this solves her problems.

Regarding the suggestion above about using a small battery to preserve settings when changing the battery, there are devices sold to do this. They are less than $10 and plug into the cigarette lighter. You just need to remember the lighter on the RX is not connected when the key is off. This is, most likely, covered in the directions that come with the device.

mikey00 , cool, I knew this was a simple thing to do,

can you point me to where I can tell my LEXUS DEALER TO GO TO GET ONE OF THESE THINGS! and mechanics will need to know not to drop the battery connectors around the engine area during the service and short out the surrogate supply.

Here is one source. If you do a search you should find many others.

Heat sharply reuduces the life of the battery and cold puts more demand on the battery. IIf you get 3 yrs or more from a battery in central Texas, you are blessed.

Incidentaly, Optima are not a drop-in replacement. They can be rigged in and I am pretty happy with my replacement. Provided every thing has been prepared, the battery swap can be done, before you loose the memory settings. [At least you can attach the new terminals in time.]

Sellect which ever suits your budget/needs but do get a "sealed type".

I had my battery changed twice (they found the original and the replacement to be defective) at Warnock Lexus in Livingston, NJ, and I didn't lose all my settings.
