Default Transmission Whine

Okay, my tranny whines when I am driving at around around 2F at the early morning when even my body feels like it's going to freeze up. I think it's normal since after driving for about a few minutes after it's warmed up, it goes away. I remember reading somewhere on ClubLexus around a year ago that it's normal. What do you guys think? It only whine at about 30mph then goes away at around 33 and whines again at 50 and goes away at 53. After 5-10 minutes of driving, it totally goes away.

I get the same thing in extremely cold temperatures...

I did not really worry as I know it is common for gears to whine until they are completely coated with lubricant. Still beats letting the car idle forever which I am not a big fan of.

I suspect this is why toyota type T-IV trani fluid is synthetic.

A little wine is a good thing.

Cheers,

Fern
