windshield washer problem
I am a newbie here in this website. I am having problems with my windshield washer. The fluid does not come. There is no leak in the fluid resevoir. The tank is filled up. I am guessing it a pump problem. it happen twice already. The first time, I have to wait a couple of days for the fluid to come out. Is the washer pump one of the defective items on the rx300's list? Do you guys experience the same problem? I have a 99 rx300.

It could be that the fluid is gummed up, or the nozzle cloged (waxed lately?).
Try draining out the fluid (Turkey Baster ... but discard after use) and put in quality fluid (or add paint safe detergent ... small quantity to thin out the fluid).
Once the clog is clear use the washer once in a while.

ps: Not aware of any problems with RX washer.

Yes, that's what he recommended. Are both front plus the rear washers not working property, and they all developed this symptom at once? If it's just the driver's side then it's probably a clogged nozzle, in which case you could try pricking it with a needle (gently). If all of them developed the malfunction at the same time, it's probably the pump, or as suggested above, the fluid may be very old and is gummed up.

ok, to trouble shoot a little, have someone operate the washers from the driver's position and with the hood open, listen for the washermotor as they operate the washers. If you don't hear the motor or feel it through the washer fluid tank, it is probably the motor.
Also check the fuse for the washer. Of course there are various relays, switches etc.

washer not washing?
Have independant mechanic blow compressed air through the hose from the motor to blow out debris that may be clogging the motor.
He will first listen while you activate the washer button to here if motor is o.k..
