Girlfriend is having problems with her rear hatch latch on her 99 RX300. When trying to open the hatch, it seems as if it is going to open, but when you pull the latch it will not open. She went to the dealership and they gave her a new latch. Im going to put the new latch on it for her, but anyone care to share a few words of advice? To access the latch, can I just simply pull the interior panel of the rear hatch to get to it and simply replace it?

Anyone else have this problem?

I saw my rear latch assembly when the inside cover was removed by the dealer, I am not sure replacing the latch is a diy job but if they gave it to you perhaps it is. While in there, I placed a small piece of foam between the connecting wire that rattled on my car and the door metal panel, it worked great to stop the rattly connector wire.
