Courtesy Light / door lock actuator?
My worst fears were confirmed at Lexus service. The non functioning front door & floor courtesy lights is likely due to a faulty (very expensive) door lock actuator.
In lieu of the $500 ++ I can live without the floor and door lights - fortunately the dome light works. This problem is likely the reason I am unable to program the key remote.
I'm hoping I can rewire these lights and install the old fashioned door pin switches. A lot less to go wrong.
Has anyone examined the innards of the door latch mechanism - is it serviceable? I hestate tearing the door panel off just to find entire replacement is the only solution.
Anyone out there have any comments or suggestions?

Don't forget there is a safety issue too. The door ajar indicator as well as the warning chime will be disabled if the actuator is not sending the right signal to the ecu.
I did not see any mention of which door it is, but lets go with the worst case and it the rear door and a child has not closed it fully. Not knowing the driver can drive off.
Search or check with one of the CL sponsors for price of the part and then see if it something you can tackle. Lexus dealership may be charging you 2hrs for labor.
