NGK iridium plug replacement
I noticed that many CL members replaced their plugs with Bosch +4 platinum plugs vs. iridium.
My RX says use iridium plug NGK IFR6T11^# (NGk stock 4589)
I have found a set of NGK BKR6EIX-11 (NGK stock 3764) which I purchased for installation.
My research shows the BKR6EIX-11 to be superior to the stock plug.
Just wondering why people replaced their iridium plugs with platinum, given that platinum is inferior and its extremely difficult to access the rear plugs to start with? Was it just a matter of availability?
BTW there is a new Toyota dealership opening up down the street from me. What are your takes on having the local Toy dealership do the customer supplied plugs? ie: same basic toyota engine and lower labour rates..
Cheers,
Fern

Iridium IX sparkplugs
Ed,
thanks for opening discussion..
check the link which (logic appears to show) that the better plug is listed at the bottom.
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/ca...engineid=25931
I would think that the IFR6T11 is the OE iridium plug and the BKR6EIX-11 is the "ultimate evolution of a performance spark plug... Unless I am reading their website incorrectly.

The Toyota Highlander is mechanically identical to the RX, so it's cheaper to use a Toyota dealer. Though they won't pamper you with luxury lounge and gourmet coffee. I do my oil change at Toyota, and plan to use this dealer for my 60k work.
