Im at 24k miles and dealer is telling me i need to change coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid???? all at 24k?? Sounds like over-servicing to me. I cant find my service books now, so does anyone have the complete service schedule?? Thank you!!

You can find the Lexus Maintenance Schedule for your car right here on the Club Lexus site by going to "Library" and doing a search on the keywords "maintenance schedule".

Changing the coolant and brake fluid at two years/30K mi are clearly recommended by Lexus (my previous Mercedes-Benz recommended changing brake fluid annually).

Changing the transmission fluid at two years/30K mi is not recommended by Lexus but there has been a lot of discussion about this on the CL maintenance forum and elsewhere. Draining and replacing only changes about 2 quarts. There is another process that uses a flushing machine and replaces all the fluid. Some comments have been that flushing is not a good idea and replacing 2 quarts ever year or two is a good idea. Unfortunately, many dealers seem to really soak you for draining off 2 quarts of transmission fluid and refilling. Be sure to use the special Toyota transmission fluid. I'm coming up on the 24k mi point myself and am tempted to take the advice of draining the transmission fluid into a plastic measuring cup and refilling that amount into the transmission (through the dipstick as I recall).

I would only do trani drain and fill w/ toyota T- IV fluid. (recommeded every 20 miles- don't listen to manual when they say trani fluid is lifetime.)

Oil changes every 6000 km or 3700 miles.

Cheers,

Fern
