Default Front License Plate???

Stupid Question #1 from a new member...

I live in a state that doesn't require 2 license plates; thus, I have no mounting holes on the front bumper. How do I mount a vanity plate on the front of my RX? (It's a 2000 model)

My mother lives down in Florida (1-plate state) and her Lexus front mounting bracket was left on the floor of her trunk when she got the car from the dealer. Your local Lexus dealer probably has plenty of front plate mounts from when the new cars are delivered with them. You probably just need to drill holes for the screws where the dimples are, but I haven't tried it.

I live in California, which requires 2 plates. I drove my car for about a year without knowing that i needed two plates. I actually like it that way because my car looks better without the front lisence plate. Anyways, i couldn't find the holes for the screw, so I brought it down the dealership and they installed it for me free of charge, it only took like 5mins. Either way, i didnt' have the proper screws to screw them in. They also gave me a free lexus frame too. heheh.

I live where only the back plate is required and the little mounting holes although barely noticable are annoying

Assuming you get your hands on a bracket, ask your dealer for a copy of the Technical Service Bulletin called "RX300 Pre-Delivery Checklist" for instructions on how to install it.
I don't know about the 300, but on the 330 you do NOT drill where the dimples are in the bumper. You drill in two other spots on the bumper - the dimples are for some posts that stick out of the frame.

You will have to drill two holes. You can get front license bracket from the dealer. Since your state doesn't require front plate, so the dealer might not install it for free. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Default Front Lisence Plates

I live in Texas and it is one of the states that require a front and rear lisence plate. I hate a plate on the front of a vehicle as it takes away from it with a big old lisence plate stuck on the front. Imagine a sleek sports car and a dadgummed lisence plate stuck on the front and her in Texas they enforce it with a high fine if missing.

A local firm supplied me with a tasteful 1/2 high front place, chrome with 23K gold LEXUS.
The product quality is very good! Their site is www.autogold.com

i use to live in CA, which requires two plates. i hated that, as it ruins clean lines of a car with an ugly plate in front. im happy that its not required in NV. if im able to get away with not having to put a front plate on, im definitely not putting it on. i feel even the nice ones that have a "L" or "Lexus" on it, ruins the looks of the car...besides, its kind of like saying..hey, its a lexus in case u didnt see the L badge thats above the plate.

Thanks everybody. I'm not too keen on drilling holes in the bumper just to put a vanity plate on. The only time I've ever really done that (putting a front plate on) was when there were already holes there that I wanted to cover up. Vegas is right: I know it's a Lexus, YOU know it's a Lexus, so why do I need an extra badge to ID my ride?

I'm sure you're the exception to the rule...you actually LIKE to be followed by the cops!
