Default For people with wood steering wheel?

I have a wood steering wheel and although it looks nice, I hate the way it feels and gets dirty. Has anyone thought of switching up I wonder how much it is or if my dealer will even do it.

Funny, I was thinking just earlier today how nice the wood feel was. Different strokes!

The wood steering wheel is technically an option on both the RX300 (for '01 and later, I think) and the RX330, so the dealer should have a leather-wrapped steering wheel available as a replacement part.

Not sure how much labor is involved... you would probably have to remove / re-install the airbag at least.

Haven't had a problem with dirt, and although I love the look in my 330's Ivory interior with the lighter burl wood trim, I understand your problem with its feel - hot in the summer sun and cold as a wedge in the winter.

Because the wood wheel is such a popular and expensive option, your dealer might do the swap for very few $. He can sell that wheel almost instantly. Check around several dealers for the best price.

the wood steering wheel is nice, just have a handkerchief with you in the car, use it sometimes when driving to get all the dirt off, that's what i do! so my wood is always clean!

At first, I thought wood and leather steering wheel was not such a good idea, but gradually , I began to like it as I drive more and more.

Not at all. As soon as I test drove the 330 w/ wood/leather wheel, that was a must. Plus, it adds so much to the interior ambiance. I'll admit that there is a sometimes dusty feel, but when it's clean it feels damn good!

I got an Idea. Just wash your hands before you drive. Maybe the steering wheel will feel better and plus it won't get dirty. Just keep a small towel on the side just in case if you need it.

You could try find someone locally who wants a wood steering wheel. Have that special someone pay for the swap both way.

Have to disagree here. Compared to the leather part of the steering wheel, the wood is actually cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. I always hold onto the wood only in extreme temperature.

I really like the wood steering wheel. My daughter has a 4-Runner and the leather on her steering wheel has been flaking off. I have had it fixed numerous times by a leather repair person, but it keeps happening (the steering wheel covers you can buy look really bad). With the wood steering wheel I don't feel that I will ever have that problem. I was quoted $900 from Toyota for a new wheel for her car. If a wood one was an option I would get it in a minute and replace the darn leather one!

I wish I HAD a wood steering wheel. Guess it isn't even possible for 2000s.

Come to think of it: I have a tiny flake off on the leather part of my wood steering wheel. I wonder if leather really do that, or is it just "synthetic leather" (Lexus' word for vinyl) ???
