Default Security Light

I have a 2000 RX 300. I was wondering if this is "normal" for a Lexus...My security light flashes no matter if my doors are locked or not. With both of my other cars (non-Lexus), the security light only comes on when the system is activated by the remote or a key turn in the door lock. When I first bought the Lex, I noticed that when I removed the key from the ignition, the security light stayed on constantly (no flashing - just ON). I reset that by disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes. Now, it does as I described above: flashes whether or not I have locked the doors. Anyone?

My RX 330 does the same thing. The security light on the dash flashes even when the vehicle is left unlocked.

I think it blinks when the key is removed. Doors locked or not.

Default Security Light

On the RX-330, the security light blinks to tell you it has immobilized the vehicle computer. The lamp stops blinking when it reads the chip in the key and aknowledges that it is the correct key. Try this with the credit card spare. The chip is in the holder and although you insert the key, the lamp flashes until it reads and OKs the chip as correct one for that vehicle.
